Bespoke kitchens for homes in Waddon
A bespoke kitchen is built around the room you have. Each cabinet is made to the real measurements of your walls, floor and ceiling, so there are no filler panels covering awkward gaps. The layout, storage and finish are planned with you before anything is built in our workshop. If you are living with a painted kitchen in a colour you choose and tall larder storage, that’s what kitchens are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
In a part of London with mixed housing, like much of the city, no two kitchens have quite the same walls and floors. Cabinets are scribed and levelled on site so doors and drawers line up. The carcasses are moisture-resistant MDF or birch plywood, with the finish agreed in your quote.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish, so it’s clear what’s included.

How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, which keeps the lines straight. After that, it’s fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that is solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Parking varies a lot across London, from permit zones to private bays, so let us know what’s near you at the measuring visit. If you live in a flat, any lift or building rules are worth checking too.
- You get in touch with a few details about the kitchen.
- We visit, measure and discuss the layout, larder, dresser or island, where space allows.
- You receive a written quote.
- The kitchen is built in our workshop.
- The cabinets are fitted in your home, with plumbing, gas and electrics by your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician.
Before we arrive
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Keep pets in another room while we work
Arranging a design visit
We quote once we’ve seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
Advice
DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.
A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.
Bespoke kitchens for homes in Waddon
Homes built before 1919 make up about 29% of the housing in the streets around Waddon, with about 25% built since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Near the centre of Waddon, Historic England’s list includes Airport House (Grade II*), about 0.6 miles south-west, and Church of St George (Grade II), less than half a mile south. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for instance removing original joinery or fixing into it, may need listed building consent from the council. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. About 25% of homes in the area around Waddon were built since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Kitchens in homes built since 2000 are often open-plan, with stud walls, so the cabinet fixings are chosen for the board.
For an older house near Church of St George, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. For a flat near Waddon station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

Questions we’re often asked
I live near Waddon station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Croydon and the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details about the room.
My home in Waddon is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Kitchens are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.
What are your kitchens made from?
We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray painting or hand painting. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
Which worktops and appliances can I have?
You choose the worktop, sink and appliances, and we design the cabinets around them. Your quote sets out what’s included.
Does fitted furniture need planning permission?
Not typically. Conservation areas mostly control changes to the outside, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.

How we price bespoke kitchens
There’s no set price, because there is no set room. What affects it comes down to:
- Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- How big the furniture is
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.
What to send when you get in touch
A little information at the start saves time later. If you can, send:
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- Approximate measurements of the space
- How you want to use the space
- Examples of the look you are after
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.
What prompts bespoke kitchens in Waddon
In a flat, the kitchen may share a wall with the living space or sit in a narrow galley. Bespoke cabinets can make the most of a small or odd-shaped room, so every run is used.
Here’s what bespoke kitchens can help with:
- Cabinets for a narrow kitchen
- More storage in a small kitchen
- A central island in a larger kitchen
- Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls
If your children go to Aerodrome Primary Academy or a school nearby, a tall cupboard by the door can take school bags and coats as part of the kitchen.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
- How they’ll get the furniture into the room
- A written quote that sets out the job
Before and after fitting day
Fitted furniture is part of the room, so it’s worth looking after. A few pointers help:
- Let us know how parking works on your street
- Pick the oven, fridge and dishwasher first
- Make sure an island will not crowd the room
- Measure the route into the kitchen
Use the cooker hood or open a window when cooking, to keep steam off the cabinets. Good ventilation helps paintwork last.
Line up your other trades in good time. Their work and ours need to fit together, and it’s easier when everyone works from the same design.
