Bespoke kitchens in Broad Green

A dresser brings a traditional feel to a kitchen, and it suits many period homes. Each dresser is made for its wall and finished to match the rest of the kitchen. People typically come to us about an island where space allows and cabinets built around the appliances you choose, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

Wherever your home in Broad Green sits in London’s mix of housing, the kitchen starts from the room’s own measurements. Your choice of worktop, sink and appliances is designed in. Other trades do the plumbing, gas and electrics.

Once you’ve read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is built in our workshop. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so you can check every detail beforehand.

What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens

What you pay depends on:

  • The overall size of the piece
  • Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • The number of doors and drawers

We do not publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

What to send when you get in touch

Ahead of the design visit, we’ll typically ask about:

  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth
  • How you want to use the space
  • The type of home and how the room is reached

If you already have something in mind, tell us; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.

Broad Green homes and bespoke kitchens

About 38% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Broad Green went up before 1919, and about 22% between 1919 and 1939, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Within a mile of the centre of Broad Green, 4 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mainly about the outside of buildings. Many London boroughs run controlled parking zones, and Croydon sets its own rules. If your road in Broad Green falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.

Near listed buildings like West Croydon United Reformed Church, under half a mile west of the centre of Broad Green, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. If your children go to Elmwood Infant School or a school nearby, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Broad Green

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Broad Green?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.

Do you make bespoke kitchens for homes in Broad Green?

Yes, Broad Green is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Croydon and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

Should I send pictures?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. It is useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. Your quote sets out which you have chosen.

What materials do you use for kitchens?

MDF for smooth painted parts and birch plywood for drawer boxes and shelves. The finish is spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in colours you choose.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We’ll also ask about access and parking, and a quote in writing follows.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, as it makes good use of an awkward room. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations. We cannot give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.

What happens on fitting day

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and your quote sets out the fitting days. On fitting day, each piece is fitted to the room’s own walls, with scribing where they wander and packing where floors dip. Hand painting can happen on site, while spray-painted pieces come ready from the workshop.

  1. To begin, fill in our short enquiry form; a brief note on the room and the kitchen you have in mind is plenty.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the layout, the storage and where the appliances will sit.
  3. You receive a written quote for the kitchen cabinets. Plumbing, gas and electrics are not part of it: those are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.
  4. We build the cabinets, doors and drawer fronts in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the cabinets in your home, working around your plumber, your electrician and an engineer on the Gas Safe Register.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Getting a quote

Rough measurements are fine at the start. We measure everything properly at the measuring visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, get in touch through our contact form with some details about the room. The written quote follows the visit.

Could you do it yourself?

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot usually do that in an older room.

A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.

Do you need bespoke kitchens in Broad Green?

Others want the kitchen to suit the age of the house. Painted cabinets, a dresser or a larder can sit well with original features and look as if they belong.

Bespoke kitchens can help with:

  • A kitchen island with room around it
  • Tall larder storage
  • Extra cupboard space
  • A layout for a small or awkward room

For a flat near West Croydon station, the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it.

Questions to ask before you hire anyone

  • Whether you will get a written quote, not just a figure
  • Can you see real work of theirs?
  • Will they visit to measure before quoting?
  • Where they’ll park and unload
