Fitted cupboards in Berrylands

Our fitted cupboards are made for homes in Berrylands and all over London. It starts with a design visit, where we measure and talk through what you need, and then send you a quote. Once agreed, we make the cupboards in our workshop and fit them in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the cupboards and the room, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you will know before we start. We make fitted cupboards from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are cupboards that sit well with skirting and coving and a boiler cupboard that keeps access clear.

Landings in houses from between the wars are often roomier than in a Victorian terrace, and that space can take shallow fitted storage. If yours is one of the interwar houses, semis or detached homes that make up much of the housing around Berrylands, it is worth looking up as well as down. Any boiler or hot water cylinder keeps the access and ventilation its maker asks for.

The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Fitted cupboards in Berrylands: local notes

The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Berrylands were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 68%) and before 1919 (about 13%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Berrylands include Christ Church (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-west. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for example removing original joinery or fixing into it, may need listed building consent from the council. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Kingston upon Thames is no exception. If your street in Berrylands is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay through the council may be needed. We ask about parking during the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.

If you live near Beverley Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and fitted cupboards can give those things a place. The wider area includes historic houses such as Hampton Court Palace, about 2.4 miles west. If your own home is a period one, an old boiler or airing cupboard can be rebuilt with proper shelves. If you live in a flat close to Berrylands station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.

Questions we’re often asked

Is Berrylands in the area you cover for fitted cupboards?

Yes, we work across Kingston upon Thames, Berrylands included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Berrylands station?

Yes. We cover all of Kingston upon Thames and the rest of London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

What happens when you come to measure?

We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, then send a written quote.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. After that, you don’t need to stay in the room.

What materials do you use for fitted cupboards?

Moisture-resistant MDF for painted doors and panels, and birch plywood where strength matters. The finish is spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in a colour you choose.

Can you box in my boiler with a fitted cupboard?

Yes. The cupboard is built around the space and ventilation the boiler’s instructions ask for, and the doors open fully for servicing. Work on the boiler itself is a job for a Gas Safe engineer.

What affects the cost of fitted cupboards

What you pay depends on:

  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • How big the furniture is
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside

We don’t publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, talk through the design and then quote in writing, with the materials and finish set out. To start, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Before the design visit

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • Your postcode and the borough
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit. For a quote, message us from the contact page.

How fitting works for fitted cupboards

Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, and that keeps the doors and shelves true. After that, it is fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that is solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. You tell us where the cupboards should go and what they need to hold.
  2. At the design visit we measure up and look at the walls, floor and ceiling. Doors, shelves and rails are agreed then too.
  3. A quote follows, setting out the design and finish, ready for you to check.
  4. The cupboards are made and finished in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. Fitting day: the cupboards are fitted and trimmed to the room. A hand-painted finish is applied on site, if you chose one.

Before we arrive

  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall

Arranging a design visit

The quote is built from the design visit. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A quote in writing follows the visit for you to look over. To arrange the visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Flat-pack or bespoke?

The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that are not square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, and standard units leave gaps.
