North Hyde Fitted Cupboards
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on fitted cupboards in North Hyde starts with a design visit, and everything is made in our workshop.
- Storage for coats and shoes in the hallway
- A boiler cupboard that keeps access clear
- A linen cupboard on the landing
Fitted cupboards for your home in North Hyde
Fitted cupboards in North Hyde: what you get
We build each fitted cupboard for the space it will live in. It can rise to the ceiling or stop at a height that suits the room, and it’s trimmed to the walls so there are no awkward gaps. We fit them in hallways, on landings, in utility and boot rooms and in alcoves, with the inside planned around what you want to store. We make fitted cupboards from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are a boiler cupboard that keeps access clear and space for laundry, cleaning things and boots.
Some homes have eaves, some have bays and some have neither, but most have a recess, a landing or a corner that could take storage. For a home in North Hyde, the design visit is where the options are worked out. The storage is made at our workshop and fitted in your home.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and share it with anyone else involved. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Why bespoke in North Hyde?
Boiler and meter cupboards are hard to get right with standard units. The space needs to suit the boiler’s instructions and leave meters reachable, and a cupboard made for the spot can allow for them. Off-the-shelf furniture comes in set sizes, and real rooms rarely match them, which leaves gaps at the sides and wasted space on top. Fitted furniture is made to the room.
The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

Plinths and scribe strips
These details are what make a cupboard look part of an older house.
Birch plywood
Shelves that carry weight need a strong board, and birch plywood is a good fit. We size each shelf for its span, depth and load.
Storage in North Hyde homes: local notes
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 29% of the housing in the area around North Hyde, with about 26% built between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. 3 conservation areas have at least part of their area less than a mile from the middle of North Hyde. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. Where a home in North Hyde is on or beside a main road, it’s useful to mention that at the design visit. We’ll plan where the van can stop.
For a family home near Norwood Green Infant and Nursery School, fitted cupboards can be planned around what a family needs to keep, from coats and bags to sports kit. If you live near Minet Country Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and fitted cupboards can give those things a place. If your home is one of the older houses near St Leonard's Church, fitted cupboards can fill recesses that are rarely a standard size.
North Hyde is within the London Borough of Hounslow, about 2 miles south-east of Hounslow. We cover North Hyde as part of our work across Hounslow. Our work takes in places right across Hounslow, from the busiest high streets to quiet residential roads.
In UB2 and TW5, the process is the same as anywhere else in London. Streets in the area include Lea Road, Fern Lane and Court Road, and homes on each of them are within our area for fitted cupboards. North Hyde sits close to the A3005. If your home is on one of them, tell us at the measuring visit, as some main roads have strict stopping rules. We also cover the places around North Hyde: Heston (1 mile south), Norwood Green (1 mile east), Osterley (1 mile east), Lampton (1 mile south-east) and Hounslow West (2 miles south). Elsewhere in Hounslow, we also cover Hounslow (2 miles south-east), Feltham (3 miles south-west), Brentford (3 miles east), Isleworth (3 miles south-east), Chiswick (5 miles east) and Strand-on-the-Green (4 miles east).
Around North Hyde
Our area takes in the homes around The Plough Public House and Featherstone High School. For rail, the closest station is Southall station, roughly 1 mile north of the centre. A little further out are St Bernard's Hospital (1.6 miles north-east) and Treaty Centre (1.8 miles south-east). Green spaces nearby include Garden Lake.
Honest limits
Not everything around fitted cupboards is carpentry, such as an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here’s what to know:
- Moving or servicing a boiler
- Connecting appliances to water or waste
- Changes to meters, which are for your supplier or an electrician
If in doubt, you can message us from the contact page and describe the room. How it works.

From workshop to your room
Fitting day follows a set order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the number of cupboards and the space they fit into, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift along with the room itself, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.
- You get in touch and describe the space.
- We visit to measure the space and the route in from the street, including the stairs and doorways.
- Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
- In our workshop we build the cupboards in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We bring the sections in and fit them, scribed to the walls. The finish is sprayed before fitting or painted by hand on site.
Before we arrive
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician in advance
Ask for a quote
The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and go through the design with you. A written quote follows the visit. To arrange the visit, send us a few details through our contact form.
Advice
Caring for painted furniture
Getting the most from fitted cupboards starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:
- Check your lease if you live in a flat
- Think about what each cupboard will hold
- Have damp sorted before fitting
- Mention any boiler, meter or fuse board early
A boiler cupboard should be left as it was designed, with nothing stored against the boiler or over its vents. When the boiler is serviced, the engineer can open the doors fully to get to it.
Leasehold flats can have rules about alterations, so check your lease first. Your lease is something to check with whoever manages the building, but it’s worth doing before the design is agreed.
Questions from North Hyde
Can you make fitted cupboards for a home in North Hyde?
Yes, we work across Hounslow, North Hyde included, and across the rest of London. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.
Will a conservation area stop me having fitted cupboards fitted in North Hyde?
Usually not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
We need someone to let us in. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. Let us know when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.
Can you fit furniture on an external wall?
It needs a little planning: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. Damp treatment is not something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.
Can you box in my boiler with a fitted cupboard?
Yes. We design the cupboard to keep the clearances and ventilation set out in the boiler maker’s instructions, and the doors open fully for servicing. Any work on the boiler itself is for a Gas Safe registered engineer.
