About our loft storage in Pinner Green

Dormers are a natural place for shelving or a small desk. Dormers have their own shapes, and walls that are seldom square. Each piece is scribed to the dormer. It adds storage without taking up the main floor. We’ll talk through the options in Pinner Green. If your home has a sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe and space under the eaves going to waste, eaves cupboards made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed can solve it.

Around Pinner Green, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the hallway may be wider than in a Victorian terrace, with room for a cupboard by the door. Bay windows suit seating with drawers or lift-up lids, with a grille so any radiator below keeps heating the room. Each space is measured and eaves cupboards are made to suit it.

Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there is a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Mention it when you contact us.

In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways along with the room itself, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through without a struggle.

Questions from Pinner Green

Is Pinner Green in the area you cover for loft storage?

Yes, Pinner Green is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Harrow and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, followed by a quote.

Is parking a problem for fitting in Pinner Green?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.

What if my walls and floors are out of level?

Uneven walls are normal in older London homes, and the furniture is made to deal with them. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, by prior arrangement. Tell us when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.

Can a wardrobe follow a sloping ceiling?

Yes. The wardrobe follows the angle of the ceiling, with hanging where there’s height. It uses the full height of the room. We plan it at the design visit.

Where other trades come in

We are carpenters, so some jobs belong to other trades. It’s useful to know these before you plan the job:

  • Structural changes, such as cutting into rafters or joists
  • Building Regulations approval for a conversion
  • Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can get in touch through our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

Boards, parts and finishes

  • Sloped wardrobe tops
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Birch plywood
  • Eaves doors and drawers

Could you do it yourself?

Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is typically a gap left over at the top or at one end. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.

If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.

Fitted storage in Pinner Green

About 34% of the homes in the streets around Pinner Green went up between 1945 and 1972, and about 29% between 1919 and 1939, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how eaves cupboards are fixed and fitted. The National Heritage List records 13 entries within half a mile of the centre of Pinner Green. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. Red routes are run by TfL, with tight limits on where and when vehicles can stop. If your street in Pinner Green joins a main road, it’s worth telling us during the design visit. We’ll plan where the van can stop.

Headstone Manor, about 1.7 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, eaves cupboards in a converted loft are scribed to slopes that are rarely even. Near listed buildings like Sweetmans Hall, less than half a mile south-east of the centre of Pinner Green, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent. If you live near Eastcote House Gardens, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.

How we price loft storage

Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. What affects it comes down to:

  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Parking near your home
  • Doors and drawers, and how many

The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

Helping us understand the room

These details help when you get in touch:

  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • How you want to use the space
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling

Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and talk through the design with you, and the written quote comes after. The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.

What happens on fitting day

There is not much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand. After that, it’s over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and your quote sets out the fitting days. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

  1. First we hear about the loft room and what you’d like to store.
  2. We measure the eaves, the slopes and the stairs up to the loft.
  3. We agree the cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, and send a quote in writing, with the finish set out.
  4. The storage is built in our workshop, in sections sized for the stairs. It’s made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We carry it up, fit it and check every door and drawer with you. Any hand painting is done in the loft.
