Questions from Spring Park
I live near West Wickham station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Croydon and the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details about the room.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Spring Park?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Can you build a cupboard around a boiler?
Yes, as long as the design respects the boiler’s instructions. We allow for the clearances and ventilation it needs and make sure an engineer can reach it.
Can a fitted cupboard cover the meters and fuse board?
Yes. A cupboard can tidy them away and still leaves them reachable. Moving them is not our work, as that is a job for your supplier or electrician.
How are fitted cupboards priced?
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. The size, the inside layout and the finish all make a difference. To arrange a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
What materials do you use for fitted cupboards?
Our cupboards are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then spray painted or hand painted. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
Fitted cupboards for homes in Spring Park
Hallways in London homes are often long and narrow, so a cupboard has to earn its place. A shallow cupboard can hold coats, shoes and bags without blocking the way, fitted out with a rail, hooks or shelves. Some people like a low bench with storage beneath for putting shoes on by the door. We make fitted cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about hiding meters and a fuse board neatly and cupboards that sit well with skirting and coving.
In a family house, the hall and stairs usually carry the most clutter. With interwar houses, semis and detached homes a large part of the housing around Spring Park, well-planned storage by the door or under the stairs can take a lot of it. Anything that needs to stay reachable, like meters or a fuse board, is designed around.
After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish.

If you live in a flat close to West Wickham station, fitted cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. Addington Palace, about 1.3 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, an old boiler or airing cupboard can be rebuilt with proper shelves. Close to Millers Pond? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and fitted cupboards can give those things a place.

How fitting works for fitted cupboards
When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. The sections made in our workshop come in next, a piece at a time. How long fitting takes depends on the number of cupboards and the space they fit into, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Some interwar and suburban streets have driveways, which can make unloading easier, so it’s worth mentioning during the design visit. Otherwise, a visitor permit or a nearby bay helps. Doorways, stairs and floors are covered on the way in.
- You let us know where the cupboards should go.
- We visit to measure up and talk through the design.
- A written quote follows.
- We make the cupboards in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- On fitting day each cupboard is set level on a plinth or adjustable feet and scribed to the wall.
- The spray-painted or hand-painted finish completes the job, and new paintwork should be treated gently while it cures.
How to prepare
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
How to get a quote
A quote begins with a few details from you: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. To send them, send us a few details through our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and talk through the design, then send a written quote.
Advice
What it costs
There’s no set price, because there is no set room. What affects it comes down to:
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- Parking near your home
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- How many doors and drawers there are
We do not publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a written quote. To start, message us from the contact page.
Getting in touch
There’s no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:
- What the furniture needs to hold
- Rough measurements: width, height and depth
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
It is useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space. To send them over, tell us about the room on our contact form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.
Practical tips
Because fitted furniture stays put, a little upkeep goes a long way. A few pointers help:
- Make sure walls are dry before we fit
- Go easy on new doors for a while
- List what you want to store before the design visit
- Check your lease if you live in a flat
New paintwork takes a while to harden fully after fitting. At first, go easy on the doors and shelves and avoid heavy cleaning. In time, a damp cloth and a little mild soap keeps them clean.
Before the design visit, think about what will go in each cupboard. A coat cupboard and a linen cupboard need quite different insides, so it’s useful to know this early.
Could you do it yourself?
The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it is quick to buy.
