Fitted wardrobes in Enfield Chase: what you get
You can choose hinged or sliding doors. Hinged doors open a whole section at once, but they need clear space in front to swing. Sliding doors save that space in a narrow room, although only part of the wardrobe is open at a time. Which suits your room is something we talk through when we visit. Most enquiries start with several odd pieces where one run of storage would do and damp or musty clothes against an external wall; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
The positions of the window, the radiator and the door shape a bedroom more than its size. Whatever kind of home you have in Enfield Chase, we start there, and fitted furniture is planned around them. Furniture is kept clear of radiators so the room stays warm.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

Fitting day, step by step
You are welcome to ask questions while we work. Most of the decisions were made during the design visit and set out in your quote, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift along with the room itself, so fitted wardrobes arrive in sections that fit through. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.
- You get in touch about fitted wardrobes for your bedroom, with a rough idea of what you need to hang and fold.
- At the design visit, we measure the room, check the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the doors and inside with you.
- You receive a quote setting out the design and the paint finish, ready for you to read through.
- We build the wardrobes in our workshop, in sections sized to get into your home. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit them in your home, scribe them to the walls and hang the doors.
Before we arrive
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician in advance
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager

Is bespoke worth it?
To be fair, modular wardrobe systems are easy to reconfigure. A bespoke interior is planned around what you own, and we can include adjustable shelves where you want flexibility. Walls and floors are seldom perfectly flat in any home, and standalone units show it with gaps and wobbles. Built-in pieces are adjusted to the room as they go in.
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size comes first. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.

Pricing fitted wardrobes in Enfield Chase
When we put a quote together, we consider:
- How square the room is
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- How big the furniture is
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. You’ll see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.
Before the design visit
To give us a picture of the room, it helps to include:
- Rough measurements: width, height and depth
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around

FAQs: fitted wardrobes in Enfield Chase
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Enfield Chase?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
I live near Enfield Chase station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Enfield and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.
Should I choose hinged or sliding wardrobe doors?
That depends on how much space there is in front of the wardrobe. If a bed or a door is close, sliding doors can make more sense. We’ll look at the room with you at the design visit.
Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?
Yes. The wardrobe is shaped to the ceiling line, keeping hanging space at the tall end and drawers or shelves lower down. It makes good use of space that’s hard to furnish.
Can you add sockets inside the units?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician. We plan the furniture around where they’ll go.
Should I send pictures?
Yes, they help. Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space, particularly with rough measurements. To send them, send us a few details through our contact form.
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it is worth raising at the design visit.
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls during the design visit.
Bedroom storage in Enfield Chase
About 27% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Enfield Chase went up between 1945 and 1972, and about 25% between 1973 and 1999, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Enfield Chase include Church of St Mary Magdalene (Grade II*), less than half a mile south, and Clarendon Cottage (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles east. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling can need listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. Where a home in Enfield Chase is on or beside a main road, it helps to mention that at the measuring visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.
The wider area includes historic houses like Forty Hall, about 1.6 miles north-east. If your own home is a period one, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go. Close to Enfield Town Park? Fitted wardrobes are typically planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. Living in a block of flats near Enfield Chase station? Then it is useful to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

Caring for painted furniture
These points come up often when people plan fitted wardrobes. They’re worth knowing whatever the room:
- Check your lease before fixing furniture to walls in a leasehold flat
- Move furniture away from the wardrobe wall ahead of time
- Measure the gap between the wardrobe wall and the bed
- Mention if the wardrobe will go on an external wall
If you have sliding doors, keep the bottom track clear of dust and fluff to keep them running smoothly. Do not let shoes or bags sit in the track.
Every so often, check that nothing has worked loose and adjust doors before a rub marks the paint.
