Loft Storage in Pinner

We make loft storage for homes in Pinner, designed around the room you have. Your eaves cupboard is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.

  • A dormer that isn’t being used
  • Standard furniture that won’t go up the loft stairs
  • A boarded loft that is hard to keep organised

Loft storage for homes in Pinner

Sloping ceilings make standard wardrobes hard to fit. A wardrobe made for the slope follows its angle, with hanging where there is height and shelves or drawers lower down. It makes the most of the room’s height. We will plan it at the design visit in Pinner. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are a dormer that isn’t being used and a loft room that doubles as an office or guest room.

With interwar houses or semis a big part of the picture around Pinner, loft conversions are common, and they leave low eaves and sloping ceilings. Those spaces, along with bays and hallways, are where fitted storage can add the most. We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded.

Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Fitted storage in Pinner

In the neighbourhood around Pinner, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 43%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 28%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. There are 41 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Pinner. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and eaves cupboards can be designed to work around them. Detached and semi-detached houses are home to about 61% of households in the streets around Pinner, based on Census 2021. In a semi or detached house, a driveway, where there is one, can make unloading easier.

Close to Eastcote House Gardens? Eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things. Near listed buildings like Sweetmans Hall, less than half a mile north-east of the centre of Pinner, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. Headstone Manor, about 1.5 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using.

What it costs

The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. That depends on:

  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • The number of doors and drawers
  • How big the furniture is
  • Spray painting or hand painting

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

What we need to know

A few details help us understand the job before we visit. When you get in touch, it is useful to send:

  • Where you live, with the postcode
  • Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Examples of the look you’re after

Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

How it’s made

Pull-out drawers

Pull-out drawers bring the back of the eaves within reach. We size each drawer for what you plan to keep in it. They’re ideal for clothes and bedding.

Moisture-resistant MDF

In a loft, stability matters, and moisture-resistant MDF is stable. It gives a smooth base for paint. It forms the doors and panels.

From workshop to your room

Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in, and the sections are assembled in place.

  1. You contact us about storage in your converted loft.
  2. We visit to measure the loft and the way up, including the top flight and any tight turn.
  3. A written quote follows, covering the design, materials and finish.
  4. Everything is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections small enough for the loft stairs.
  5. We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to fit. The finish is sprayed in the workshop or hand-painted in the loft.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Starting with a design visit

Rough sizes are fine at the start. We measure everything properly during the design visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, tell us about the room on our contact form. You receive a written quote after the visit.

Advice

What loft storage can’t fix

We make and fit furniture, and we don’t do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. There are a few other points to bear in mind:

  • Building Regulations approval for a conversion
  • Structural changes, such as cutting into rafters or joists
  • Any wiring, which needs an electrician

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we’ll give you a straight answer. How a job runs, step by step.

FAQs: loft storage in Pinner

Will a conservation area stop me having loft storage fitted in Pinner?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Pinner?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Just mention it when you contact us, and we’ll see what we can do.

Do pictures help?

Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit. It’s useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.

How long does it take to fit loft storage?

The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We make the cupboards and drawers in our workshop, so the time at your home is spent fitting. If you’d like the fitting on a Saturday, that can be arranged.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
