About our fitted home offices in Canons Park
Cables are easy to forget and hard to hide later. Cable holes and routes are built into the desk and cupboards. Any new sockets are fitted by your electrician, with the furniture designed to suit. Talking it through at the measuring visit in Canons Park saves trouble later. If you are living with working at the kitchen table and paperwork and files with nowhere to go, that is what home offices are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Around Canons Park, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the spare bedroom or dining room often doubles as the office. A built-in desk with doors that close over it lets the room go back to its other job at the end of the day. We plan the cable routes around your sockets.
The furniture is built in our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Flats, leases and landlords
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the measuring visit.
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways as well as the room, so each section is sized to get through.
FAQs: fitted home offices in Canons Park
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Mill Hill Broadway station?
Yes, homes across Harrow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Is Canons Park in the area you cover for fitted home offices?
Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London, and Canons Park is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, and then we send a quote.
Is it possible to have an office and a guest bed in one room?
It comes down to the size of the room. A compact office along one wall can leave the rest of the room for a bed. We’ll look at the options at the design visit.
Which materials go into your home offices?
Our home offices are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then painted. Shelves are made to suit the load they’ll carry. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. Your quote sets out which you’ve chosen.
Should I send pictures?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough sizes. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.
Pricing fitted home offices in Canons Park
Prices vary from room to room, for these reasons:
- How big the furniture is
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
Getting to the room affects the job as well. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying, and that is part of the price. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit.
Helping us understand the room
To give us a picture of the room, it’s useful to include:
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- What the furniture needs to hold
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
We quote once we’ve seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
What happens on fitting day
In older rooms, the furniture typically has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it sits neatly against the room. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Clearing the room and the way in beforehand helps the day run well. Fitting day starts with protecting the floors and setting out the pieces. The pieces are levelled, fitted to the walls and fixed back.
- First we hear about your work and the room you have in mind, whether that’s a spare room, an alcove or a landing.
- We measure the room, look at the light and note the sockets. Cable routes are planned at this point.
- The design is agreed and a written quote follows.
- The office is made at our workshop and painted in your colour.
- We fit it in your home and check every drawer and door with you. The cable routes are left ready to use.
How to prepare
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
Getting a quote
Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough measurements and some photos if you have them. When you are ready, drop us a line using the contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

Built-in desks and shelving in Canons Park
In the neighbourhood around Canons Park, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 54%) and the years since 2000 (about 21%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). That matters for home offices, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Canons Park is partly covered by a conservation area, going by Historic England’s data. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. Your council can advise if you are unsure. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Harrow is no exception. If parking near you is controlled, a visitor permit or a bay suspension may be needed, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. Tell us what the parking is like at the design visit.
If you live in a flat close to Mill Hill Broadway station, home offices are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Church of St Lawrence, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent.

Why people ask for fitted home offices in Canons Park
What’s behind you on a call is worth thinking about. Built-in shelves and doors give a tidy backdrop. It is a practical benefit many people mention.
Typical reasons people contact us include:
- Cables trailing across the desk and floor
- A guest room that’s needed for work
- A desk in the wrong light
- Working at the kitchen table
The wider area includes historic houses such as Headstone Manor, about 3 miles west. If your own home is a period one, lath-and-plaster walls need the right fixings for shelves above a desk.
Before you hire any carpenter
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
Flat-pack or bespoke?
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it’s easy to buy.
The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
