About our wall beds in Canons Park
We fit wall beds in Canons Park and across London. First comes a design visit, where we measure and look at the wall, then a quote in writing. The cabinets are built in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the bed and the cabinets around it, and your quote sets out the fitting days. If your home has a bed that fills a little-used room and a guest bed that disappears in the day, that’s what wall beds are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
A bedroom in a house from between the wars usually has simpler mouldings than a Victorian one, so fitted furniture can often run neatly to the ceiling. If yours is one of the interwar houses or semis that make up much of the housing around Canons Park, high cupboards make a good home for suitcases and spare bedding. The skirting is scribed around rather than removed.
Once you have read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is built in our workshop. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Bedroom storage in Canons Park
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 54% of the housing in the streets around Canons Park, with about 21% built since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Canons Park is partly covered by a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Being in a conservation area mainly affects changes to the outside of a building, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If in doubt, the council’s planning team can confirm. Controlled parking zones are run by the boroughs, so the rules in Harrow are set locally. Where a street in Canons Park is controlled, a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension from the council. Parking near your home is worth mentioning at the design visit.
The wider area includes historic houses like Headstone Manor, about 3 miles west. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind wall beds is part of the design. Close to Edgwarebury Park? A bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls. For a family home near Camrose Primary With Nursery, the inside of wall beds can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow.
Canons Park is about 4 miles south-west of Harrow, part of the London Borough of Harrow. Our work covers every London borough and the City of London, Canons Park included. We list Canons Park among 20 places we cover in Harrow.
Postcode districts we cover here for wall beds: HA8 and HA7. Streets in the area include Parr Road, Mead Road and Grove Road, and homes on each of them are within our area for wall beds. If you’re just outside Canons Park, we also cover Little Stanmore (1 mile south-east), Edgware (1 mile north-east), Burnt Oak (1 mile east), Broadfields Estate (1 mile north-east) and The Hale (1 mile north-east). We also make wall beds in nearby places such as Harrow (4 miles south-west), Hatch End (4 miles west), Harrow Weald (2 miles west), Wealdstone (2 miles south-west), Greenhill (3 miles south-west) and South Harrow (4 miles south-west).

Flat-pack or bespoke?
Cost matters, and it is fair to say so: flat-pack is typically cheaper to buy. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that are not square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, and standard units leave gaps.
From workshop to your room
Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, which keeps the lines straight. After that, it’s fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that’s solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Clearing the room and the way in beforehand helps the day run well. On the day, we cover the floors first, then bring the sections in. Each piece is levelled, scribed where the wall wanders and fixed to suit the wall.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room and how often the bed is used.
- At the design visit we measure the room, look at the wall and discuss the design. We also check there is clear space in front to lower the bed.
- You get a quote in writing for the bed cabinet and any storage around it, for you to look over.
- The bed cabinet and any shelves or desk are built in our workshop.
- We fit it in your home, with the mechanism fixed as its maker specifies. The finish is sprayed in our workshop or painted by hand on site.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
Getting a quote
If you know what you want, say so; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Flats, leases and landlords
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We can’t give advice on leases.
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them during the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.
Your questions about wall beds in Canons Park
Is parking a problem for fitting in Canons Park?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.
Does a conservation area in or near Canons Park affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can need listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
How much room do I need in front of a wall bed?
The bed needs room in front of it to come down, as well as the depth of the cabinet itself. We measure this during the design visit, so the design works.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room, but it helps to be around at the end.
Do you work outside London?
No. We only take on work in London, across all the boroughs and the City of London.
What happens during the design visit?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We’ll also ask about access and parking, and afterwards we send a written quote.
Materials and finishes
Bed mechanism housing
The bed sits inside a cabinet built around its mechanism and fix it as the maker specifies. The front can look like a set of cupboards.
Moisture-resistant MDF
We use moisture-resistant MDF for painted doors and panels, giving the front a smooth finish.
