Hadley Wood Fitted Home Offices

In Hadley Wood, we design fitted home offices around the room you actually have. We design your home office at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

Common questions about fitted home offices

I live near Hadley Wood station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Enfield and the rest of London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

How do you fit fitted home offices in a flat in Hadley Wood?

At the design visit, we measure the way in along with the room itself. Home offices are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.

Do I get to choose the colour?

You choose it. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.

How long will the home office fitting take?

How long fitting takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. The office is built in our workshop first, so the time in your home is spent fitting. We work tidily and keep the room as clear as we can.

What finishes do you offer?

You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.

Can a home office go in a loft room?

Yes, if the loft is already a converted room. We plan around the headroom, so you can stand at the desk. Shelving and cupboards can fill the lower space under the slope.

Fitted home offices for homes in Hadley Wood

Spare rooms are a natural choice for an office, though many still need space for guests. We can design desks, shelving and cupboards that leave room for a bed, or doors that close over the desk at the end of the day. It’s worth talking through at the measuring visit in Hadley Wood. Typical reasons to get in touch are files and folders piling up and a guest room that’s needed for work; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

Post-war housing makes up a good share of the homes around Hadley Wood, and in London that can mean houses or flats in blocks. In a flat, the office often shares a room, so a desk that closes away helps. The furniture comes in sections sized for the route in.

A written quote follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.

If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways along with the room itself, so each section is sized to get through without a struggle.

When is bespoke worth it?

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it is quick to buy.

Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.

Built-in desks and shelving in Hadley Wood

In the streets around Hadley Wood, the largest groups of homes date from between 1945 and 1972 (about 31%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 25%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Near the centre of Hadley Wood, Historic England’s list includes Camlet House (Grade II), less than half a mile north-east, and Hadley Wood Golf Club House (Grade II), less than half a mile north-east. For a listed home, works inside that affect its character may need listed building consent from the council, for example removing or fixing into original panelling. It’s worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. About 31% of homes in the neighbourhood around Hadley Wood were built between 1945 and 1972, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Rooms from that era suit a full-width desk with shelving above.

For a family home near Livingstone Primary and Nursery School, closed cupboards above a desk keep work papers and school books apart. Living in a block of flats near Hadley Wood station? Then the route in is measured along with the room itself, and the sections are sized to fit it.

What we don’t do

Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, and there are a few other limits too:

  • Any wiring or new lights, which need an electrician
  • Structural work, such as removing walls or chimney breasts
  • Installing IT equipment or broadband

If in doubt, you can fill in our short enquiry form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How it works.

What it’s made from

  • Spray-painted finish
  • Birch plywood
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Built-in desks
  • Cable routes
  • Filing drawers
  • Moisture-resistant MDF

Why people ask for fitted home offices in Hadley Wood

A spare room that has to do two jobs is another reason. Fitted furniture can make room for both. It puts the room to work most of the time.

Requests we hear often include:

  • Cables trailing across the desk and floor
  • Files and folders piling up
  • A screen that is hard to read by the window
  • No way to put work away

If you live near Tudor Sports Ground, a desk placed to make the most of daylight makes a big difference to a working day.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Is it spray painted or hand painted?
  • Whether the route into your home has been checked
  • How they handle walls that aren’t straight
  • How the doors are hung and adjusted

How fitting day works

When we arrive on fitting day, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections made in our workshop. The time the fitting takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a post-war house, the hall and stairs are typically straight and simple, so carrying in is rarely difficult. The way in is still measured, along with the room. On the day, sections are joined, levelled and fixed.

  1. It starts when you get in touch with some details about the space.
  2. We come to measure and work out where the desk, shelves and cable routes should go. New sockets are for your electrician, so it’s useful to think about them early.
  3. We send a quote in writing setting out the design, materials and finish, for you to read through.
  4. Your office furniture is made at our workshop and painted to your chosen colour.
  5. We bring it to your home, fit it and leave it ready to use, with cable routes left clear.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
