Loft storage for your home in Berrylands

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

Off-the-shelf pieces come in the maker’s finishes. We paint the storage in the colour you choose, so it can match the walls and the woodwork. Doors, windows and radiators rarely leave a gap that matches a standard width, which leaves ready-made pieces sitting awkwardly. Fitted furniture is designed around them.

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Loft storage in Berrylands: what you get

Each eaves cupboard is made in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which suits drawer boxes and carcasses, and MDF gives the doors and panels a smooth surface for paint. It’s then spray-painted or hand-painted and fitted in your home in Berrylands. Most enquiries start with standard furniture that won’t go up the loft stairs and no wardrobe that fits under the slope; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Berrylands, many have had the loft converted, leaving low eaves and sloping ceilings. Those spaces, along with bays and hallways, are where fitted storage can add the most. For lofts, we work in spaces that are already converted or boarded.

You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and talk it over at home. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

How it is made

Spray-painted finish

Spray painting suits angled panels and plain fronts alike. It’s carried out in the workshop for an even coat. The colour is your choice.

Plinths and scribe strips

Loft rooms are seldom square. We use scribe strips and a plinth to take up the difference. The result is neat, even lines all round.

What it costs

We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. These are the things that affect it:

  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. We’ll talk through what you need inside at the design visit, and the quote follows.

What we need to know

Ahead of the design visit, we will usually ask about:

  • Examples of the look you’re after
  • Your postcode and the borough
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling

It is useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space. To send them over, drop us a line using the contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

What happens on fitting day

You’re welcome to ask questions while we work. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully and leaving everything tidy. The time the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In a 1930s house with a converted loft, the stairs to the loft room are often steeper than the main flight, so pieces for a loft room are sized for the narrowest point. Elsewhere in the house, the route is usually more generous. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.

  1. You get in touch with some details about the loft room, whether it’s a converted room or a boarded space.
  2. At the design visit, we look at the slopes, the eaves and the way up, and talk through the design with you.
  3. Your quote sets out the design, the materials and the finish.
  4. We make the cupboards and drawers in our workshop, cut to the slope.
  5. The storage is fitted and set level, ready to fill, with the doors and drawers checked with you.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street

Questions from Berrylands

Do you cover homes near Berrylands station?

Yes. We cover all of Kingston upon Thames and the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with a few details about the room.

Is Berrylands in the area you cover for loft storage?

Yes, we work across Kingston upon Thames, Berrylands included, and across the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

What materials do you use for loft storage?

Our loft storage is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then painted. Both are stable, which matters in a loft room. Your quote confirms the materials and finish.

How is the furniture painted?

There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. Your quote sets out which you have chosen.

Can you build a wardrobe under a sloping ceiling?

Yes. A wardrobe made for the slope fits where a standard one cannot. The tall end takes hanging space, and the low end can hold shelves or drawers. It is scribed to the slope and walls.

Storage in Berrylands homes: local notes

In the streets around Berrylands, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 68%) and before 1919 (about 13%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. 3 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of the centre of Berrylands. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Kingston upon Thames is no exception. Depending on your street in Berrylands, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a council bay suspension may be needed. Let us know about parking during the design visit.

For a family home near Christ Church CofE Primary School, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit. Hampton Court Palace, about 2.4 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using. Close to Beverley Park? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

Flats, conversions and lettings

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We can’t advise on your lease.

Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind.
