Brentford End Loft Storage
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make loft storage for homes in Brentford End, each designed at a visit to your home.
- A sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe
- A boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised
- A converted loft with no fitted furniture
Loft storage designed for your room
Loft storage in Brentford End: what you get
A sloping ceiling leaves little room for a standard wardrobe. A wardrobe made for the slope follows its angle, with hanging where there is height and shelves or drawers lower down. It makes the most of the room’s height. The design visit in Brentford End is where we work it out. We make eaves cupboards from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and the things people most often want solved are an empty dormer that could hold shelves and a loft room with too many jobs.
An interwar house typically has a proper landing, sometimes with a recess or an airing cupboard, which can hold fitted storage for linen and spare bedding. If yours is one of the interwar houses, semis or detached homes that make up much of the housing around Brentford End, the landing is worth a look as well as the hall. Any boiler or hot water cylinder keeps the access and ventilation its maker asks for.
The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

Tips worth knowing
The finish lasts best with a little care. Here are our suggestions:
- Decide whether you’d prefer drawers, cupboards or both
- Note how narrow the loft stairs are
- Make a list of what you want to store in the eaves
- Plan where the tall end of a wardrobe can go
Once the fitting is done, the storage is ready to use. New paintwork takes time to cure fully, so go easy on it to begin with. Avoid sticky tape, heavy knocks and harsh cleaners while it hardens.
Do not overfill drawers, as heavy loads strain the runners. A quick sort every so often helps. Keep the heaviest things near the floor.

Fitting day, step by step
Every fitting follows the same order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You tell us about your converted or boarded loft, including the eaves and any dormer.
- We measure the eaves, the slopes and the stairs up to the loft.
- The design is agreed and a quote in writing follows, with the finish set out.
- The storage is built in our workshop, in sections sized for the stairs. It’s made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We carry it up, fit it and check every door and drawer with you. Any hand painting is done in the loft.
Before fitting day
- Empty the space we’ll be working in
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
Arranging a design visit
It is useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space. To send them over, drop us a line using the contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Off-the-shelf wardrobes often don’t fit up narrow loft stairs. Our storage is made in sections sized for the route. It means a full wardrobe can still reach the room. If a house has been extended or knocked through, the new walls and the old ones may not line up, which shows up against standard furniture. Built-in pieces are scribed to take up the difference.
In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Tell us about parking at the measuring visit.

How it’s made
Pull-out drawers
A run of drawers along the knee wall can work like a long chest. The top can act as a shelf. We agree the layout during the design visit.
Plinths and scribe strips
Loft floors are often out of level. We set the storage level on a plinth or adjustable feet, so everything opens and closes as it should.
What affects the cost of loft storage
To work out the quote, we look at:
- Doors and drawers, and how many
- Parking and unloading on your street
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, then set it out in the quote.
Getting in touch
There is no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:
- Your postcode and the borough
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- What the furniture needs to hold
You do not need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit, along with the walls, floor and ceiling. To get started, drop us a line using the contact form with some details about the room. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.
Your questions about loft storage in Brentford End
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Brentford End?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Does a conservation area in or near Brentford End affect fitted furniture?
Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character may need listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Can you add sockets inside the units?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician. We plan the furniture around where they’ll go.
Do you make the furniture yourselves?
It is built in our workshop, to the design and sizes agreed after the design visit. After that, we fit it in your home.
Do you make good the walls afterwards?
No. Our work is the furniture, not the walls. The furniture is finished by spray or by hand, as agreed in your quote.
Do you work in Brentford End?
Yes. Brentford End is part of the area we cover. To arrange a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
Brentford End homes and loft storage
Homes built since 2000 make up about 31% of the housing in the area around Brentford End, with about 30% built between 1919 and 1939, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. The centre of Brentford End is within about a quarter of a mile of the Isleworth Riverside Conservation Area. Being in a conservation area mainly affects changes to the outside of a building, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If in doubt, the council’s planning team can confirm. Purpose-built flats are home to about 41% of households in the area around Brentford End, going by Census 2021 figures from the ONS. For a flat, eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, the lift and the doors. Many blocks have rules on lift booking and working hours, so check with the managing agent before fitting day.
Syon House, about 0.5 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, the knee walls of a converted loft can take drawers as well as cupboards. If you live in a period home close to Church of St Lawrence, eaves cupboards in a converted loft are scribed to slopes that are rarely even. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Syon House Conservatory, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.
