Loft Storage in Brentford

Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make loft storage for homes in Brentford, each designed at a visit to your home.

  • A boarded loft with no proper shelving
  • Space under the eaves going to waste
  • Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs

What we don’t do

We make and fit furniture, and we do not do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. Please bear these in mind too:

  • Loft conversions, which we don’t carry out
  • Approval for structural changes
  • Insulation or ventilation work behind the eaves

Not sure whether your space suits loft storage? You can get in touch through our contact form and we’ll tell you before you arrange a visit. How it works.

Loft storage in Brentford: what you get

Behind the short walls at the edge of a loft room, there is often space going to waste. Cupboards and drawers set into the knee wall make that space useful. Drawers bring the back of the space within reach. We measure and plan for the space you have in Brentford. If you’re living with standard furniture that won’t go up the loft stairs and no wardrobe that fits under the slope, that’s what eaves cupboards are for, made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

A hall in a home built since 2000 is often compact, with several doors leading off it, which leaves little wall for storage. Around Brentford, many homes were built since 2000, so that’s worth planning for. Even a shallow run can hold coats and shoes without crowding the doors.

Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

From workshop to your room

On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop, one at a time. The time the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Newer blocks often have concierge desks, entry systems and rules on lift booking, so it is useful to sort them out beforehand. Eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the lift and doors.

  1. First we hear about the loft room and what you’d like to store, including the eaves and any dormer.
  2. We measure the eaves, the slopes and the stairs up to the loft, as everything has to get up there.
  3. We agree the cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, and send a written quote.
  4. The storage is built in our workshop, in sections sized for the stairs.
  5. The storage is fitted, scribed to the slopes and checked with you.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
  • Keep pets in another room while we work

How to get a quote

It is useful to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them tell us a lot about the space. To send them over, use our contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.

Loft storage for homes in Brentford

In the area around Brentford, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 38%) and before 1919 (about 23%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Tips worth knowing

Getting the most from loft storage starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Choose a calm colour for the loft
  • Count the clothes you’ll need to hang
  • Make a list of what you want to store in the eaves
  • Measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landing

Once the fitting is done, the storage is ready to use. New paintwork takes time to cure fully, so go easy on it to begin with. Avoid sticky tape, heavy knocks and harsh cleaners while it hardens.

Loft rooms can be warm in summer and cool in winter. A little ventilation helps. It helps the storage stay in good condition.

Flat-pack or bespoke?

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.

It’s worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture normally costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is tricky, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

Your questions about loft storage in Brentford

Is parking a problem for fitting in Brentford?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.

I live in a flat in Brentford. How will the furniture get up the stairs?

We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Eaves cupboards are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It’s useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Can you convert my loft as well?

No, the conversion itself is not our work. We design and fit storage once the room is in place, from eaves cupboards to wardrobes under the slopes.

What materials do you use for loft storage?

The storage is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The carcasses and drawer boxes are birch plywood, which is strong and holds screws well, while the doors and panels are MDF, which paints well. Everything is finished by spray painting or hand painting.

What if my walls and floors are out of level?

It is something we deal with all the time. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base.

Do you move sockets or add lighting?

No. Electrical work isn’t something we do; it’s a job for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design, and new sockets should be in place before fitting day.

Is it time for loft storage?

Some people have a boarded loft and want proper shelving. Storage in a boarded loft keeps everything organised. It suits seasonal things and boxes.

Here’s what loft storage can help with:

  • Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs
  • A loft room that still feels unfinished
  • Boxes and suitcases with no home
  • A boarded loft with no proper shelving

For an older house near Congregational Church, sloping ceilings in a loft room suit wardrobes cut to the angle.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
  • Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
  • Where they’ll park and unload
  • Will they visit to measure before quoting?
