Gunnersbury Loft Storage
Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make loft storage for homes in Gunnersbury, each designed at a visit to your home.
- Clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom
- Boxes and suitcases with no home
- A boarded loft with no proper shelving

Gunnersbury homes and loft storage
Homes built before 1919 make up about 37% of the housing in the streets around Gunnersbury, with about 23% built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. 15 conservation areas have at least part of their area less than a mile from the middle of Gunnersbury. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Purpose-built flats are home to about 47% of households in the streets around Gunnersbury, in the ONS Census 2021 figures. In a block, each section is sized to get up the stairs or into the lift and through the door. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.
Living in a block of flats near Gunnersbury station? Then eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Zoffany House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. If you live near Turnham Green, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.
Gunnersbury is within the London Borough of Hounslow, about 4 miles south-west of Hounslow. Design visits and fitting in Gunnersbury can be on a Saturday, by arrangement. Our Hounslow coverage includes Gunnersbury, along with the rest of the borough.

Loft storage in Gunnersbury
A sloping ceiling leaves little room for a standard wardrobe. A wardrobe made for the slope follows its angle, with hanging where there’s height and shelves or drawers lower down. It uses the full height of the room. The design visit in Gunnersbury is where we work it out. We make eaves cupboards from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs and low eaves that nobody can use.
A deep cupboard can lose things at the back, so drawers, lift-up lids or shallow shelves are chosen to suit the space. Whatever kind of home you have in Gunnersbury, the right answer depends on the depth and the height. Any meters, fuse board or boiler keep the access they need.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it is worth raising during the design visit.
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. At the design visit, we measure the stairs, the landings, any lift and the doors, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through without a struggle.
Is bespoke worth it?
With ready-made furniture, the colour is the maker’s choice. We paint the storage in the colour you choose, so it sits with the rest of the room. Ready-made furniture rarely suits a recess, a slope or an odd corner, and most homes have at least one. Fitted furniture is designed around them.
The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

How we price loft storage
Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- How square the room is
- The internal fittings
- The overall size of the piece
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.
What we need to know
A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:
- Approximate measurements of the space
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- Examples of the look you are after
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and talk through the design with you. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing. To book one, use our contact form.
Fitting day, step by step
Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. London parking ranges from controlled zones to driveways and private bays, so let us know what’s near you at the design visit. If you live in a flat, any lift or building rules are worth checking too.
- It starts when you get in touch about storage in your loft.
- At the design visit, we look at the slopes, the eaves and the way up.
- A quote in writing follows, with the fitting days agreed.
- We make the cupboards and drawers in our workshop, cut to the slope.
- We fit it in your home and leave it ready to use.
Preparing the room

- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
Starting with a design visit
Pictures help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, particularly with rough sizes. To send them over, tell us about the room on our contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.

Questions from Gunnersbury
Do you cover homes near Gunnersbury station?
Yes. We cover all of Hounslow and the rest of London. To get started, you can use our contact form with a few details about the room.
Is Gunnersbury in the area you cover for loft storage?
Yes. We cover all of Hounslow and the rest of London, and Gunnersbury is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, followed by a quote.
Will eaves storage block the ventilation?
It shouldn’t, if it is designed properly. The storage is planned around the insulation and ventilation behind the knee wall. For worries about existing insulation or vents, ask the people who did the conversion.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps to avoid condensation. If there is damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.
Who chooses the colour?
You do. The paint colour is agreed with you.
How is loft storage priced?
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Drawers in the knee wall normally involve more work than simple cupboards, and the finish matters too. Everything is set out in a written quote after the visit.
What it is made from
Birch plywood
Its layered build gives birch plywood its strength. We use it for carcasses, shelves and drawer boxes, with the edge either shown or painted.
Moisture-resistant MDF
MDF cuts cleanly, which suits the angled panels under a sloping ceiling. We use a moisture-resistant grade, which is stable and takes paint well. It makes up most of the visible parts.
