Loft storage designed for your room
Loft storage in Grove Park: what you get
Dormers are a natural place for shelving or a small desk. Their sides are often angled, and their walls rarely straight. We scribe the furniture to follow them. It adds storage without taking up the main floor. We’ll go through the options in Grove Park. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish, and people most often get in touch about a dormer that isn’t being used and boxes and suitcases with no home.
An interwar house usually has a proper landing, sometimes with a recess or an airing cupboard, and that space can take shallow fitted storage. If yours is one of the interwar houses, semis or detached homes that make up much of the housing around Grove Park, it’s worth looking up as well as down. Any boiler or hot water cylinder keeps the access and ventilation its maker asks for.
Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Honest limits
It helps to know what’s outside our work before you plan:
- Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off
- Structural changes, such as cutting into rafters or joists
- Loft conversions, which we do not carry out

Flats, conversions and lettings
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall, which we check at the design visit.
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so let us know about it at the design visit.
Making use of awkward spaces in Grove Park
About 61% of the homes in the streets around Grove Park went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 15% between 1973 and 1999, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Grove Park, Historic England’s list includes Baring Hall Hotel and associated stable block (Grade II), under half a mile south. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. It’s worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. In inner London, a large part of the street parking sits inside borough-run controlled parking zones. A van working in Grove Park will typically need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension arranged through the council, which often needs notice. We ask about parking at the measuring visit, so the van can be planned for.
For a family home near Haberdashers' Aske's Knights Academy, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home. Living in a block of flats near Grove Park station? Then the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. The wider area includes historic houses like Eltham Palace, about 1.6 miles north-east. For a period home anywhere nearby, eaves cupboards in a converted loft are scribed to slopes that are rarely even.
Grove Park is about 4 miles north-west of New Cross, in the London Borough of Lewisham. Our work covers every London borough and the City of London, Grove Park included. Our work takes in places right across Lewisham, from the busiest high streets to quiet residential roads.
In BR1, SE12 and SE9, the process is the same as anywhere else in London. Streets in the area include Shaw Road, Camlan Road and Baring Road, and we cover homes on all of them for loft storage. The A2212 runs close to Grove Park, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you get in touch. Close by, we also work in Chinbrook (1 mile east), Mottingham (1 mile east), Downham (1 mile south-west), Plaistow (1 mile south-west) and Sundridge (1 mile south). Across the rest of Lewisham, our area takes in New Cross (4 miles north-west), St Johns (3 miles north-west), Deptford (4 miles north-west), Catford (2 miles north-west), Lewisham (2 miles north-west) and Surrey Canal (5 miles north-west).

What affects the cost of loft storage
The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. That depends on:
- The width and height of the space
- Parking near your home
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We will talk through what you need inside during the design visit, and the quote follows.
Getting in touch
Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- How you want to use the space
To get a quote for loft storage in Grove Park, drop us a line using the contact form. Let us know which room it is and roughly what you have in mind. Next comes a design visit, followed by a quote in writing.
From workshop to your room
With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. It is useful to clear the room and the route before we arrive. On the day, we cover the floors first, then bring the sections in. The pieces are levelled, fitted to the walls and fixed back.
- First you tell us about the loft room and what you’d like to store there, and how you get up to it.
- We visit to measure the eaves and slopes and discuss the design.
- We send a quote in writing setting out the design, materials and finish.
- Your storage is made at our workshop and painted to your chosen colour. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit it in your home, scribed to the slopes and the walls, with the finish sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Keep pets in another room while we work
How to get a quote
Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and talk through the design with you, then send a quote in writing. The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.
Advice
Your questions about loft storage in Grove Park
Can you make loft storage for a home in Grove Park?
Yes. We cover all of Lewisham and the rest of London, and Grove Park is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, followed by a quote.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Grove Park?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
Do I choose the paint colour?
The choice is yours, and it is agreed with you before painting. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.
Is bespoke worth it?
Loft walls are rarely straight, and floors are often out of level. Standard furniture leaves visible gaps. Our storage is scribed to the room and set level, so the lines look right. In an extended or opened-up house, old and new walls often meet slightly out of line, and straight-sided ready-made units make that obvious. Fitted pieces are scribed to both.
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. You’ll see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.
