Loft Storage in Catford
In Catford, we design loft storage around the room you actually have. Your eaves cupboard is designed at a visit to your home and made in our workshop.
- Wasted space behind the knee walls
- Nowhere to store bags and boxes
- Furniture that cannot get up to the loft

What prompts loft storage in Catford
Some people want to hide clutter in the eaves. Eaves cupboards keep them out of sight. The room stays calm and clear.
Some of the things we’re asked to solve are these:
- A loft room that doubles as an office or guest room
- An empty dormer that could hold shelves
- Nowhere to store bags and boxes
- A new loft conversion that needs storage
If you live near Forster Memorial Park, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.
What to check before you book
- Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
- How they deal with uneven walls and floors
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
Loft storage in Catford
Our work is in loft rooms that are already converted, or lofts that are boarded. We don’t carry out loft conversions, and Building Regulations apply to a conversion. Once the room is finished, we can design storage to suit it. If you have a converted loft in Catford, the design visit is the first step. If your home has a converted loft with no fitted furniture and a dormer that isn’t being used, eaves cupboards made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.
In streets where many homes were built before 1919, as they were around Catford, the space under the stairs in a terraced house often holds the gas meter, the electricity meter or the fuse board. Meter readers and engineers need to get to them, so the design keeps them accessible. Sash and bay windows are common in houses of that age too, and good places for seating with storage below.
We write quotes in plain English. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

How fitting works for loft storage
At the end, we tidy up and lift the floor protection. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you and answer any questions. How long the fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Hallways in period houses are often narrow, and the stairs turn sharply, so eaves cupboards are made in sections sized to get through. Floors, stairs and doorways are covered before anything is carried through.
- You get in touch and tell us about the loft and the stairs up to it.
- We visit to measure the loft and the way up, including the top flight and any tight turn. Let us know about parking too, as a van often needs a permit or a paid bay.
- We send a quote in writing.
- We build the storage in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, sized to get up to the loft.
- We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to fit.
How to prepare
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
Getting a quote
To make a start, send us a few details through our contact form and tell us which room you have in mind and roughly what you’d like. We then arrange a design visit to measure and go through the design, and a written quote follows.
Advice
Looking after your furniture
Fitted furniture is part of the room, so it’s worth looking after. A few pointers help:
- Find out what’s behind the eaves, from insulation to vents
- Think about hanging space for a loft bedroom
- Consider drawers for the deep, low spaces
- Empty the eaves so we can see what’s behind
Do not pack things so tightly that air cannot move behind the knee wall. Leave the gaps we’ve designed in. It helps prevent damp behind the storage.
Keep sharp or very heavy items away from the painted fronts. Store tools in a box, not loose against the doors. A small chip on a hand-painted finish is easy to touch in.
Honest limits
Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. That means:
- Converting the loft itself, which is not our work
- Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves
- Altering the structure of the loft
If in doubt, you can use our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How it works.
What goes into it
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Birch plywood
- Sloped wardrobe tops
- Eaves doors and drawers

More for homes in Catford
Fitted storage in Catford
In the neighbourhood around Catford, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 68%) and the years since 2000 (about 14%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Catford is partly covered by the Culverley Green Conservation Area, one of the conservation areas recorded by Historic England. Being in a conservation area mainly affects changes to the outside of a building, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules. If your home is on or just off a main road, it helps to mention it. Then we can work out where to load and unload.
Eltham Palace, about 2.8 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, eaves cupboards in a converted loft are scribed to slopes that are rarely even. Near listed buildings like Church of St Andrew, about 0.6 miles east of the centre of Catford, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.
Catford is about 2 miles north of New Cross, in the London Borough of Lewisham. From period terraces to newer flats in Catford, the furniture is designed around the room as we find it. Our work takes in places right across Lewisham.
Every home in SE6 and BR1 is within our area for loft storage. You will find streets here such as Bargery Road, Penerley Road and Inchmery Road, and we cover homes on all of them for loft storage. If you are just outside Catford, we also cover Bellingham (1 mile south-west), Southend (1 mile south-west), Ladywell (1 mile north), Hither Green (1 mile north-east) and Bell Green (1 mile south-west). We also make loft storage in nearby places like New Cross (2 miles north), St Johns (2 miles north), Deptford (3 miles north), Surrey Canal (3 miles north-west), Sydenham (2 miles south-west) and Telegraph Hill (2 miles north-west). Being one of the larger places in Lewisham, Catford is covered for loft storage and everything else we make.
Landmarks near Catford
We fit furniture in homes around The London & Rye pub, Conisborough College and Trinity Church of England School. The nearest railway station is Catford Bridge station, about 0.5 miles north-west of the centre. A little further out are Lewisham Shopping Centre (1.4 miles north) and Prefab Museum (0.7 miles south-east). Not far away are Downham Woodland Walk.
Flats, leases and landlords
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls during the design visit.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it.
FAQs: loft storage in Catford
I live near Catford Bridge station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Lewisham and the rest of London. To get started, you can use our contact form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Catford?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need someone to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
Do you carry out loft conversions?
No, the conversion itself isn’t our work. We design and fit storage once the room is in place, from eaves cupboards to wardrobes under the slopes.
How is the furniture painted?
There are two ways to finish it: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.
How long is the fitting for eaves storage?
How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Because everything is made in our workshop, the work in your home is the fitting itself. We work tidily and keep the stairs and landing as clear as we can.
