Loft Storage in Horn Park

Loft storage for your home in Horn Park: eaves cupboards, drawers and wardrobes in converted lofts. We visit to measure and discuss the design, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it.

  • A loft room with too many jobs
  • A new loft conversion that needs storage
  • A dormer that is not being used

Flats, leases and landlords

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray or hand-painted finish.

In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Let us know about it when you get in touch.

Loft storage for homes in Horn Park

Loft rooms are often bedrooms, so storage for clothes matters. A wardrobe under the slope, knee-wall drawers and dormer shelves make a complete set. Designed as one, they give the room calm, consistent lines. For a home in Horn Park, it is planned around your things. If your home has a boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised and a dormer that isn’t being used, that is what eaves cupboards are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Around Horn Park, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the hallway may be wider than in a Victorian terrace, with room for a cupboard by the door. Bays at the front suit a seat with storage below, with a grille so any radiator below keeps heating the room. Eaves cupboards are measured and made for the house you have.

You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and share it with anyone else involved. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

When is bespoke worth it?

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it is quick to buy.

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s normally a gap left over at the top or at one end. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

FAQs: loft storage in Horn Park

Will a conservation area stop me having loft storage fitted in Horn Park?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, works inside that affect its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

Is parking a problem for fitting in Horn Park?

It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Do you make good the walls afterwards?

No. We make, fit and finish the furniture, and plastering and decorating are for other trades. The furniture itself is spray painted or hand painted.

Do you cover areas outside London?

No. We cover London only: all 32 boroughs and the City of London.

Can you fit furniture on an external wall?

External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture. If there is damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.

Can I send photos ahead of the visit?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough measurements. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.

What it is made from

Moisture-resistant MDF

In a loft, stability matters, and moisture-resistant MDF is stable. It takes a spray-painted or hand-painted finish well. It’s used for most of the visible parts.

Hand-painted finish

Hand painting on site lets the storage be finished alongside the woodwork around it. It is easy to touch up later. Paint needs time to cure fully, so treat it gently at first.

Storage in Horn Park homes: local notes

In the area around Horn Park, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 44%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 22%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Near the centre of Horn Park, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Saviours (Grade II), about 0.5 miles east. For a listed home, changes inside that alter its character can need listed building consent from the council, for example removing or fixing into original panelling. It’s worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of inner London. In Horn Park, a van will typically need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. Tell us what parking is near you during the design visit.

Eltham Palace, about 1 mile east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, sloping ceilings in a loft room suit wardrobes cut to the angle. If your home is one of the older houses near Church of St Saviour, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using. Living in a block of flats near Lee station? Then check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.

Bespoke loft storage or ready-made?

With ready-made furniture, the colour is the maker’s choice. We paint the storage in the colour you choose, so it can match the walls and the woodwork. The spaces between doors, windows and radiators are seldom a stock size, so ready-made furniture often ends up in the wrong place. Built-in pieces are planned around those fixed points.

The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

How fitting day works

If anything comes up on the day, just ask. Most of the decisions were made during the design visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving everything tidy. The time the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. First we hear about the loft room and what you’d like to store, including the eaves and any dormer.
  2. At the design visit, the room and the route up are measured, as everything has to get up there.
  3. We agree the cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, and send a quote in writing, with the finish set out.
  4. The storage is built in our workshop, in sections sized for the stairs. It’s made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We carry it up, fit it and check every door and drawer with you. Any hand painting is done in the loft.

Before we arrive

  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
  • Empty the space we’ll be working in
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way

Getting a quote

We quote once we have seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and go through the design with you, then send a written quote. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. To book a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
