Pricing wall beds in Gunnersbury

What you pay depends on:

  • Parking near your home
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • The overall size of the piece
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room

What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We will talk through what you need inside at the measuring visit, then set it out in the quote.

Helping us understand the room

A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:

  • Any ideas or images you’ve saved
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Approximate measurements of the space
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall

Photos help us understand the room before we visit. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them tell us a lot about the space. To share them, fill in our short enquiry form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.

About our wall beds in Gunnersbury

We build the bed housing from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray painted in our workshop or hand painted. From the front, the folded bed can look like a set of tall cupboards, so the room doesn’t read as a bedroom by day. If your home has a hobby room with a bed for guests and somewhere comfortable for guests to sleep, that’s what wall beds are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Where the window, radiator and door sit decides most of a bedroom layout. For any home in Gunnersbury, those are the first things we note at the measuring visit, and fitted furniture is planned around them. Nothing is built tight over a radiator, so the heat still reaches the room.

Our quotes are written in plain words. They say what will be made, what it’s made from and how it will be finished, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

Practical tips

Because fitted furniture stays put, a little upkeep goes a long way. Here are a few tips worth knowing:

  • Follow the mechanism maker’s mattress guidance
  • Decide who the bed is mainly for
  • Keep the floor in front clear before lowering the bed
  • Measure the clear space in front of the wall

New paintwork takes a while to harden. Go easy on the doors and front at first, and clean the cabinet with a soft, damp cloth.

If you know the wall’s construction, mention it. The fixing depends on the wall, and we check it during the design visit too.

Your questions about wall beds in Gunnersbury

I live in a flat in Gunnersbury. How will the furniture get up the stairs?

We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Wall beds are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Gunnersbury station?

Yes. We cover all of Hounslow and the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details about the room.

Are fold-down beds safe to use?

A secure fixing and careful use are what matter. We fix the mechanism as its maker specifies, and you keep the space in front clear and children away while it moves.

Can you add sockets inside the units?

No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician, and some electrical work in homes is covered by Part P of the Building Regulations. We’ll design around them.

Do pictures help?

Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.

Do you work on Saturdays?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Just mention it when you get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Gunnersbury

About 37% of the homes in the area around Gunnersbury went up before 1919, and about 23% since 2000, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how wall beds are fixed and fitted. The Thorney Hedge Conservation Area is close by, within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Gunnersbury. The controls in a conservation area are mostly about the outside of buildings, so furniture fitted inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If you’re unsure, check with the council before work starts. Many London boroughs run controlled parking zones, and Hounslow sets its own rules. If your street in Gunnersbury is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension through the council may be needed. Tell us what the parking is like at the measuring visit.

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Zoffany House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent. Close to Turnham Green? Wall beds are usually planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. For a flat near Gunnersbury station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.

Could you do it yourself?

The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

What we don’t do

We do not treat damp or carry out building work, and there are a few other limits too:

  • Wiring for lights or chargers
  • Supplying mattresses
  • Making good the walls after other work

If in doubt, you can send us a few details through our contact form and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.

What goes into it

  • Fold-down bed mechanism
  • Shelves or a desk alongside
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Birch plywood
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF

From workshop to your room

When the fitting is done, we tidy the room and lift the floor protection. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the design and how much storage goes around the bed, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. If you live in a block, check any rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours; if you live in a house, let us know about steps, paths and parking. Either way, the day is planned at the measuring visit. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. You tell us about the room.
  2. At the design visit we agree the layout and the colour.
  3. A written quote follows.
  4. The cabinets are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood; a spray finish is applied there for a smooth, even surface.
  5. The wall bed is fitted, and any hand painting is done on site. New paint needs gentle use while it cures.
