Loft storage in Bedfont
Loft rooms are often bedrooms, so storage for clothes matters. Wardrobes under the slope, drawers in the knee wall and shelves in the dormer can all work together. Planned together, they make the room feel ordered. For a home in Bedfont, it is planned around your things. If you’re living with low eaves that nobody can use and standard furniture that won’t go up the loft stairs, eaves cupboards made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.
Some post-war homes still have their original hall or landing cupboards, which can be rebuilt with better shelves and doors. Around Bedfont, many homes come from the post-war decades, so those spaces are worth a look. The new storage is made to the opening and fixed to suit the wall.
Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Questions we’re often asked
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Bedfont?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.
Will a conservation area stop me having loft storage fitted in Bedfont?
Typically not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
What materials do you use for loft storage?
Our loft storage is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then painted. Both are stable, which matters in a loft room. Your quote confirms the materials and finish.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.
How long does it take to fit loft storage?
How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. The storage is built in our workshop first, so the time in your home is spent fitting. We keep the route up to the loft as clear as possible.
Can a wardrobe follow a sloping ceiling?
Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, with hanging at the tall end and shelves or drawers lower down. It makes the most of the space. We plan it during the design visit.
Honest limits
It’s worth being clear about where our work stops:
- Building Regulations approval for a conversion
- Structural changes, such as cutting into rafters or joists
- Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, after measuring the route at the measuring visit.
If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
Loft storage in Bedfont: local notes
In the area around Bedfont, the largest groups of homes date from between 1945 and 1972 (about 35%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 26%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Bedfont is partly covered by the Bedfont Green Conservation Area, according to Historic England’s records. Conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. The council can confirm if you are not sure. The ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) now covers the whole of London, Hounslow included. That includes the vans that bring and fit furniture in Bedfont. Access and parking are talked through during the design visit.
If your children go to Fairholme Primary School or a school nearby, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit. For an older house near Church of St Mary, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. Living in a block of flats near Heathrow Terminal 4 Rail station? Then it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

Could you do it yourself?
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.
If you’re handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Standalone furniture can move with you, and it may suit a short stay. Fitted storage stays put, and it makes far more of the loft. The right choice depends on how long you plan to stay. A ready-made unit pushed back to the wall leaves a gap above the skirting, which wastes depth and gathers dust. Built-in pieces sit tight to the wall, scribed over the skirting.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Tell us about parking at the measuring visit.

What happens on fitting day
At the end, we tidy up. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together and answer any questions. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Parking near post-war estates can depend on residents’ bays and estate rules, so it helps to tell us at the measuring visit. On the day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
- To begin, drop us a line using the contact form; a brief note on the loft and the storage you want is enough.
- We visit to measure the slopes and eaves and talk through cupboards, drawers and wardrobes under them.
- A quote in writing follows, with the design, materials and finish.
- The storage is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, cut to the angles we measured.
