Loft Storage in Rowley Green

Eaves cupboards, drawers and wardrobes in converted lofts, for homes in Rowley Green. We measure, design and quote first, then make it in our workshop and fit it.

  • Standard furniture that will not go up the loft stairs
  • Seasonal things cluttering the loft room
  • A loft room that doubles as an office or guest room

Loft storage designed for your room

Flats, leases and landlords

Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We can’t advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.

In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways not just the room, so each section is sized to get through without a struggle.

How we make loft storage for Rowley Green

Many loft rooms are bedrooms, and storage for clothes is the first need. A wardrobe under the slope, knee-wall drawers and dormer shelves make a complete set. Designed as one, they give the room calm, consistent lines. We design them around what you need to store in Rowley Green. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about a loft room that still feels unfinished and low eaves that nobody can use.

If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around Rowley Green, the hall is often wide enough for coat and shoe storage. Bays at the front suit a seat with storage below, with a grille where there is a radiator underneath. Each space is measured and eaves cupboards are made to suit it.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

What happens on fitting day

Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth, and that keeps the doors and shelves true. After that, it’s fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that is solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. It’s useful to clear the room and the route before we arrive. On the day, we cover the floors first, then bring the sections in. The pieces are levelled, fitted to the walls and fixed back.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about your converted or boarded loft.
  2. We visit to measure the eaves and slopes and go through the design, including the headroom under the slope.
  3. We send a quote in writing setting out the design, materials and finish, for you to look over.
  4. Your storage is built in our workshop and painted to your chosen colour.
  5. The storage is fitted in the loft and checked, door by door, with the finish sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.

Rowley Green homes and loft storage

About 35% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Rowley Green went up between 1945 and 1972, and about 33% between 1919 and 1939, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Rowley Green include Trinders Lodge (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-east. For a listed home, internal works that affect its character can require listed building consent from the council, for instance removing or fixing into original panelling. Around a third of the homes in the area around Rowley Green (about 33%) date from between 1919 and 1939, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Loft conversions are common in houses of that age, and the eaves can take fitted storage; we build the storage once the loft is converted or boarded.

For an older house near Holy Cross, the knee walls of a converted loft can take drawers as well as cupboards. For a flat near Elstree & Borehamwood station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

What affects the price in Rowley Green

When we put a quote together, we consider:

  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls

The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

Getting in touch

A little information at the start saves time later. If you can, send:

  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Examples of the look you’re after
  • The type of home and how the room is reached

To get a quote for loft storage in Rowley Green, send us a few details through our contact form. Tell us which room it is and roughly what you have in mind, plus any rough sizes. Next comes a design visit, followed by a written quote.

Do you need loft storage in Rowley Green?

The most common reason is wasted space. Behind the knee walls, there’s space nobody can reach. Built-in storage makes that space useful.

If any of these sound familiar, it is worth getting in touch:

  • Unused space in a dormer
  • A loft room that still feels unfinished
  • A boarded loft with no proper shelving
  • Nowhere to store bags and boxes

For a family home near Saffron Green Primary School, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Whether they measure the room themselves
  • Whether you’ll get a written quote, not just a figure
  • Are the boards named, such as MDF or plywood?
  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors

What it is made from

Pull-out drawers

Drawers along the knee wall make a neat, low run of storage. The top can act as a shelf. We agree the layout at the design visit.

Moisture-resistant MDF

A loft room can see more change in temperature than other rooms, so a stable material matters. It gives a smooth base for paint. It forms the doors and panels.

Questions we are often asked

Can you make loft storage for a home in Rowley Green?

Yes, we work across Barnet, Rowley Green included, and across the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Rowley Green?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Just mention it when you get in touch.

Can you fit furniture on an external wall?

It needs a little planning: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We do not treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

How do you get large pieces into a loft?

We measure the stairs and landings as well as the loft room. We size every section for the tightest turn, and the pieces are put together in the room.

What are your eaves cupboards made from?

We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The carcasses and drawer boxes are birch plywood, which is strong and holds screws well, while the doors and panels are MDF, which paints well. The finish is spray-painted or hand-painted.
