Loft Storage in Ivybridge

For homes in Ivybridge, we make loft storage from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Each piece is finished by spray or by hand, in the colour you choose.

  • A boarded loft with no proper shelving
  • No wardrobe that fits under the slope
  • Low eaves that nobody can use

Practical tips

Most of what helps is simple. What we’d suggest:

  • Think about hanging space for a loft bedroom
  • Think about how you’ll reach into the eaves
  • Let us know about parking near your home
  • Make room so the whole loft can be measured

Small marks on a hand-painted finish can be touched in. Keep a note of the colour for later. Should you have a question about the storage, message us from the contact page and we’ll help.

Loft rooms can be warm in summer and cool in winter. A little ventilation helps. That keeps the storage and the paint in good order.

Loft storage in Ivybridge: what you get

We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. The conversion itself isn’t our work, and conversions come under Building Regulations. Once the room is finished, we can design storage to suit it. In Ivybridge, it all begins with a design visit. If you’re living with standard furniture that won’t go up the loft stairs and a loft room that doubles as an office or guest room, that’s what eaves cupboards are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Walls in houses from between the wars are normally straighter than in older ones, but seldom perfect. Around Ivybridge, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing, and every piece is still scribed where it meets the wall. Lids, doors and drawers are set level on site so they run true.

The written quote is your record of the job. It sets out the eaves cupboard designed for your room, what it is made from and how it is finished.

From workshop to your room

At the end, we tidy up and lift the floor protection. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together. How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about your converted or boarded loft.
  2. At the design visit we measure the knee walls, slopes and stairs and plan the storage with you, including the headroom under the slope.
  3. We send a written quote setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. We make every part in our workshop, cut to the angle of the slope.
  5. We carry it up, fit it and leave it ready to use, with the finish sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area

Questions from Ivybridge

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Twickenham station?

Yes, homes across Hounslow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details about the room.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Ivybridge?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

It’s a chance to measure properly and talk through what you’d like. We also check the walls and floors and note radiators, sockets and other things in the way, then send a written quote.

What materials do you use for loft storage?

The storage is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The carcasses and drawer boxes are birch plywood, which is strong and holds screws well, while the doors and panels are MDF, which paints well. Everything is finished by spray painting or hand painting.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need someone to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Who chooses the colour?

You do. The paint colour is agreed with you before anything is painted.

Why people ask for loft storage in Ivybridge

A dormer can feel like wasted space. Built-in furniture in a dormer puts it to work. It uses space that’s otherwise empty.

A few of the things people ask us to solve are these:

  • A loft room that still feels unfinished
  • A loft room that doubles as an office or guest room
  • A dormer that is not being used
  • A boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised

If your children go to Chase Bridge Primary School or a school nearby, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
  • How they handle walls that aren’t straight
  • Whether the finish is set out in the quote
  • Will they visit to measure before quoting?

Ivybridge homes and loft storage

The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Ivybridge were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 42%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 24%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. 8 conservation areas have at least part of their area less than a mile from the middle of Ivybridge. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. If your home in Ivybridge is on or near a main road, tell us during the design visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.

Close to Inwood Park? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place. The wider area includes historic houses like Richmond House, about 1.1 miles south-east. If your own home is a period one, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk.

What we do not do

Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, and there are a few other limits too:

  • Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves
  • New sockets, lights or wiring, which are for your electrician
  • Building work to turn a loft into a room

If in doubt, you can use our contact form and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.

What goes into it

  • Birch plywood
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Eaves doors and drawers
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Sloped wardrobe tops

Is bespoke worth it?

Standard furniture doesn’t allow for the insulation and ventilation behind the eaves. Bespoke storage is designed so it does not block ventilation or squash insulation. That is important for the health of the loft. Ready-made furniture rarely suits a bay, a box room or a bulkhead over the stairs, and interwar homes often have all three. Fitted furniture is made around them.

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.
