Loft storage in Wembley: what you get
The space behind the knee wall typically has insulation and ventilation to think about. We design the storage so it doesn’t block airflow or crush insulation. If anything looks wrong behind the eaves, it’s worth asking whoever converted the loft. When we visit in Wembley, we will see what’s there. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are no wardrobe that fits under the slope and unused space in a dormer.
Newer homes often have plain spaces left as they are: a recess beside the stairs, a gap by a window, an empty cupboard. Many homes around Wembley date from 2000 onwards, so spaces like that are worth a second look. Drawers and shelves can make use of the full depth.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It describes the eaves cupboard we’ve designed for the room, what it’s made from and how it is finished, and the workshop works from it.

Pull-out drawers
Pull-out drawers bring the back of the eaves within reach. We size each drawer for what you plan to keep in it. They’re ideal for clothes and bedding.
Doors and drawer fronts
An access door into the eaves can match the rest of the fronts. It opens fully, so the space behind can still be reached. Around it, the fronts can be drawers, doors or a mix.
How fitting works for loft storage
Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference. After that, it’s fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that’s solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Newer homes often have stud walls, so fixings go into the studs or use fixings made for the board. Floors are protected throughout, as many newer homes have finished floors that mark easily, and dust is kept to a minimum.
- To begin, fill in our short enquiry form; a brief note on the loft and the storage you want is enough.
- We visit to measure the slopes and eaves and talk through cupboards, drawers and wardrobes under them.
- Your written quote sets out the storage and the finish.
- In our workshop we build each section from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood to follow the slope.
- We fit the storage in the loft, trimming the edges so they meet the ceiling neatly, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Before fitting day
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
Starting with a design visit
Rough measurements are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit, along with the walls, floor and ceiling. To get started, tell us about the room on our contact form. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.

Loft storage for homes in Wembley
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Wembley were built since 2000 (about 53%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 30%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Wembley, Historic England’s list includes Wembley Hill Lodge (Grade II), under half a mile south-east. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, like fixing into original panelling. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Red routes, run by TfL, have strict rules on stopping and loading. If your home is on or just off a main road, it helps to mention it. Then we can work out where to load and unload.
If your home is one of the older houses near St Augustine, sloping ceilings in a loft room suit wardrobes cut to the angle. For a family home near Wembley Primary School, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up.

Postcode districts we cover here for loft storage: HA9, HA0, HA1 and NW9. Wembley sits close to the A404 and A4088. If your home is on one of them, tell us during the design visit, as some main roads have strict stopping rules. If you’re just outside Wembley, we also cover Wembley Park (1 mile east), Preston (1 mile north), Mapesbury (1 mile south-east), Tokyngton (1 mile south-east) and Stonebridge Park (1 mile south-east). Elsewhere in Brent, we also cover Kilburn (4 miles south-east), Neasden (2 miles east), Harlesden (3 miles south-east), Queen's Park (4 miles south-east), Kenton (2 miles north) and Church End (2 miles south-east). Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Tell us about them at the design visit.
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you.
Questions we are often asked
Is parking a problem for fitting in Wembley?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Does a conservation area in or near Wembley affect fitted furniture?
Typically not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, works inside that affect its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
My walls aren’t straight. Is that a problem?
It is something we deal with all the time. The furniture is scribed to follow the walls and levelled on feet or a plinth, so it sits tight to the room.
Do you do plastering or decorating?
No. We make, fit and finish the furniture, and plastering and decorating are for other trades. The furniture itself is spray painted or hand painted.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. Your quote sets out which you have chosen.
The problems loft storage solve
Some people want to make more of a dormer. Shelves, a desk or a seat in the dormer make it useful. It adds storage without crowding the room.
If any of these sound familiar, it’s worth getting in touch:
- Space under the eaves going to waste
- Boxes and suitcases with no home
- A dormer that isn’t being used
- Boxes piled on loft boards
Close to Preston Park? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
- Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
- How parking will work on your street
Is bespoke worth it?
If you only need a few boxes in a boarded loft, standalone shelving may be enough. Bespoke work makes sense in a converted loft room, where the storage is part of the room. At the design visit, we will tell you honestly which approach suits your loft. In a compact new-build room, standard sizes rarely fit the walls exactly, and fitted furniture uses that space. It works around service boxing too.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Let us know about parking at the measuring visit.
