TV and media units in Hampton Wick: what you get
TV units are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The finish is spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in a colour agreed with you. We work across London, including Hampton Wick. Most enquiries start with space for a soundbar and speakers and clutter around the TV, and the answer is made at our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Some living rooms in London have tall ceilings and cornices, while others have low, plain ceilings. However your room in Hampton Wick is built, the height is measured as carefully as the width, since it sets how tall TV and media units can be. Sections are sized for the stairs and doors on the way in.
Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

What TV and media units cannot fix
Electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering and structural work are not part of what we do. Please bear these in mind too:
- New sockets behind the TV, which need an electrician
- Structural changes to the wall
- Configuring the TV and sound system
If in doubt, you can fill in our short enquiry form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

Materials and finishes
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting can be done in your home after fitting. Small marks are simple to touch up.
Birch plywood
We often use birch plywood for carcasses and drawers. Its layered edge can be painted or shown.
Fitting day, step by step
With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Parking varies a lot across London, from permit zones to private bays, so let us know what applies at the design visit. If you live in a flat, any lift or building rules are worth checking too.
- It starts with a short note from you about the TV wall.
- We visit to plan the unit and check the way in. Let us know about parking too, since a van may need a visitor permit or a paid bay.
- We send a written quote.
- In our workshop we make the unit in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We bring the sections in, join them on the wall and scribe them to fit.
Before fitting day
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
Ask for a quote
Rough sizes are fine at the start. We measure everything properly during the design visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, send us a few details through our contact form with a few details about the room. You receive a written quote after the visit.

Is bespoke worth it?
Most stands have a cable hole or two at the back, but the wires still show between the stand, the wall and the screen. We plan the cable routes into the design, with access panels for changes later. Ready-made furniture rarely suits a recess, a slope or an odd corner, and most homes have one somewhere. Fitted furniture is designed around them.
The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
Why choose us
- A spray or hand-painted finish
- Made for your room, not a standard size
- A design visit, then a quote in writing
- Scribed to uneven walls
Take a look at how bespoke compares with ready-made or how to compare quotes.
How we price TV and media units
To work out the quote, we look at:
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- The width and height of the space
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We’ll talk through what you need inside at the design visit, then set it out in the quote.
What we need to know
To give us a picture of the room, it helps to include:
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- Any ideas or images you’ve saved
- Your postcode and the borough
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we have measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, send us a few details through our contact form.
Your questions about TV and media units in Hampton Wick
Can you make TV and media units for a home in Hampton Wick?
Yes, Hampton Wick is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Kingston upon Thames and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Typically not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Do TV units need ventilation?
We plan ventilation into the unit for boxes, consoles and amplifiers. We give each box its own space and you can check the maker’s guidance on clearances.
Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?
Uneven walls are normal in older London homes, and the furniture is made to deal with them. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
Getting it in is planned at the measuring visit. The stairs, landings, any lift and the doorways are measured, and the furniture is made in sections sized to get through.
Who moves the sockets for a built-in TV wall?
We don’t do electrical work. Your electrician handles sockets and wiring. We tell you where the unit will sit so the sockets end up in the right place.
