Our fitted wardrobes across KT2
Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and from wall to wall. There’s no dusty gap on top and no tricky space at the ends. If you’re planning fitted wardrobes in KT2, the first step is a design visit to measure up and talk through the design. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are space under the eaves going to waste and a room too narrow for hinged doors.
There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared, as we’ll have talked about at the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and the fitting days are set out in your quote.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room.
- At the design visit we measure the room and agree the layout and doors.
- We send a quote in writing.
- We build the wardrobes in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit them in your home, scribed to the walls and ceiling; a hand-painted finish is done on site.
- Before we leave, we go through the doors and drawers with you. New paint takes time to cure, so treat it gently at first.
How our quotes work
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. A larger piece means more material and more time. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.
Why work with us

How to get a quote
Photos help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, particularly with rough sizes. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.

Fitted wardrobes for homes across KT2
Bedrooms across KT2 might have alcoves, sloping ceilings, bulkheads or none of these. Each piece is fitted to the room’s own walls and floor. The paint finish, spray-painted or hand-painted, is agreed with you.
About 27% of the homes in the KT2 postcode district went up between 1945 and 1972, and about 26% before 1919, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how fitted wardrobes are fixed and fitted. About 27% of homes in KT2 were built between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Bedrooms from that era tend to be regular, so fitted furniture can run wall to wall, fixed to suit the wall. 2 of the 9 places in KT2 with their own pages here have their centre inside a conservation area, going by Historic England’s records. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission.
We cover the whole of London, so homes in KT2 are well within our area. If you’re unsure about access or parking, mention it when you get in touch.
Kingston upon Thames: If you live in a period home close to Church of St Luke, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. The wider area includes historic houses like Hampton Court Palace, about 1.8 miles south-west. For a period home anywhere nearby, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go.
Do you need fitted wardrobes?
Sharing a bedroom means sharing the wardrobe. We can plan separate sections for each person, each with the rails, shelves and drawers its owner needs.
We are often asked to help with:
- Space under the eaves going to waste
- Musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall
- Several odd pieces where one run of storage would do
- Too little room for clothes
Pricing fitted wardrobes in KT2
The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. The main factors are:
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- The number of doors and drawers
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Let us know about parking at the design visit, so we can plan for it.
Helping us understand the room
What helps most when you first contact us:
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- Any ideas or images you’ve saved
- Approximate measurements of the space
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
To get a quote, send us a few details through our contact form and tell us a little about the room and roughly what you’d like. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and send you a written quote afterwards.
Where other trades come in
We design, make and fit the furniture. In practice, that means:
- Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
- Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
- Removing walls, chimney breasts or any structural work
Practical tips
Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after with a little care. These habits help most:
- In a leasehold flat, read the lease first
- Check how much space there is in front for doors to open
- Move furniture away from the wardrobe wall beforehand
- For a flat, measure the stairs, landings and lift
Leave a little space between clothes and the back of the wardrobe. Air moving through helps avoid condensation and mould.
Keep any ventilation gaps clear, especially where the wardrobe meets an outside wall. Watch for musty smells or marks on clothes and have the cause looked at early.
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t give advice on leases.
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, which we check at the measuring visit.
Questions we’re often asked
How long are you in the house for fitting?
How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We will talk you through what to expect beforehand.
What affects the price of fitted wardrobes?
Size, doors and drawers, what goes inside and the finish all affect it. The price comes in a written quote after the design visit.
Do you do plastering or decorating?
No. We make, fit and finish the furniture, and plastering and decorating are for other trades. We paint the furniture itself, by spray or by hand.
Can I choose the layout inside the wardrobe?
It is worked out with you when we measure, based on what you wear and how much of it there is. Adjustable shelves keep some flexibility for later.
Is it possible to build wardrobes into a loft room with a slope?
Yes. Sloping ceilings are common in loft conversions. The slope is measured at the design visit and the wardrobe scribed to it on site.
Do I choose the paint colour?
The choice is yours, and we agree it with you before the furniture is finished. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you’ve chosen.
Do you work in KT2?
Yes. We work across all 32 London boroughs and the City of London, and that includes KT2.
