TV and media units in Pinner Green

Built-in TV and media units bring the screen, set-top boxes, speakers and cables together in one piece of furniture. Instead of a stand, a tangle of wires and a few odd shelves, the whole wall is designed at once. If you’re planning a TV unit in Pinner Green, the first step is a design visit to measure up and look at your equipment. People typically come to us about equipment running hot in a closed cupboard and a screen at the wrong height; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

Many houses from between the wars, and many semis, have been extended or opened up inside, and around Pinner Green, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a large share of the housing. In a long knocked-through room, TV and media units can run the full length of one wall. An extension’s plasterboard walls need different fixings from the original brick or block.

The written quote is your record of the job. It describes the TV unit we’ve designed for the room, its materials and its finish, and the workshop works from it.

Questions we are often asked

Is parking a problem for fitting in Pinner Green?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.

Is Pinner Green in the area you cover for TV and media units?

Yes, Pinner Green is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Harrow and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

How do you get large furniture into a flat?

Getting it in is planned at the measuring visit. The stairs, landings, any lift and the doorways are measured, and the furniture is made in sections sized to get through.

Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?

It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

Do you work on Saturdays?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Just mention it when you get in touch, and we will see what we can do.

Can a built-in unit hide all the wires?

We design the unit so cables run out of sight. Routes, openings and removable panels let you add or change leads later without taking the unit apart. For a wall-mounted TV, a route behind the screen is planned in.

Pricing TV and media units in Pinner Green

Several things affect the price:

  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • The internal fittings
  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room

There’s no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a written quote, with the materials and finish set out. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.

Before the design visit

Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:

  • Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for

It is useful to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space, along with rough measurements. To send them over, tell us about the room on our contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

Living-room carpentry in Pinner Green: local notes

Homes built between 1945 and 1972 make up about 34% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Pinner Green, with about 29% built between 1919 and 1939, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how TV and media units are fixed and fitted. Within a mile of the centre of Pinner Green, 3 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. All of London, Harrow included, is inside the ULEZ. It applies to every van that comes to fit furniture in Pinner Green. We plan parking and access with you at the measuring visit.

For a flat near Hatch End station, the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. The wider area includes historic houses such as Headstone Manor, about 1.7 miles east. If your own home is a period one, walls that bow and floors that slope are why TV and media units are scribed to fit rather than pushed into place.

Pinner Green is part of the London Borough of Harrow, about 2 miles south-east of Harrow. Anywhere in Pinner Green, the process is the same: we visit and measure, send a written quote, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. Our work takes in places right across Harrow.

In HA5 and HA6, the process is the same as anywhere else in London. Flats, blocks and rented homes

In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls during the design visit.

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations. We can’t advise on your lease.

Fitting day, step by step

In older rooms, the furniture usually has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it sits neatly against the room. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the unit and the cable routes planned into it, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Interwar houses usually have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, but the route in is still measured, not just the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it’s going, with floors protected throughout.

  1. It starts with a short note from you about the TV wall.
  2. At the design visit we measure the wall and also the hall, stairs and doorways the unit has to pass through.
  3. We send a quote in writing.
  4. In our workshop we make the unit in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The sections are carried in, assembled and set level, ready for your equipment. The finish is sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.

Advice

Honest limits

Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. In practice, that means:

  • Moving sockets or adding new wiring, which is for your electrician
  • Plastering or decorating around the unit
  • Structural changes to the wall

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we will give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

The problems TV and media units solve

Others are tired of furniture that does not fit. Standard TV stands rarely suit an awkward wall, and that’s where a bespoke unit helps.

A few of the things people ask us to solve are these:

  • Empty alcoves beside the TV
  • A tangle of wires behind the TV
  • Set-top boxes stacked on a stand
  • Equipment running hot in a closed cupboard

If your home is one of the older houses near Christian Science Church, walls that bow and floors that slope are why TV and media units are scribed to fit rather than pushed into place.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Whether the finish is set out in the quote
  • Which parts of the job need an electrician or a plumber
  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors
  • How they’ll get the furniture into the room
