Eastcote TV and Media Units

Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make TV and media units for homes in Eastcote, each designed at a visit to your home.

  • Space for a soundbar and speakers
  • Boxes with no ventilation
  • Empty alcoves beside the TV

TV and media units for homes in Eastcote

A built-in TV unit gives the screen, the boxes, the speakers and the cables one planned home. The wall is planned as a whole, rather than a stand with wires trailing behind it. For a living room in Eastcote, we start with a design visit to measure and talk through what you use. Most enquiries start with a TV stand that doesn’t fit the wall and empty alcoves beside the TV; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

In an area like Eastcote, where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, many living rooms have been opened up to the dining room behind. The result is often a long room with a chimney breast, a good spot for TV and media units. At the design visit we plan any cable routes and ventilation the room needs, with any new sockets left to your electrician.

A written quote follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so it is clear what’s included.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

A bespoke unit isn’t instant: there’s a design visit, a quote and making time. For a short stay, a standalone stand can make more sense. The spaces between doors, windows and radiators are seldom a stock size, so ready-made furniture often ends up in the wrong place. Built-in pieces are planned around those fixed points.

In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. It helps to talk about parking at the design visit, so we can plan for it.

What it’s made from

Spray-painted finish

Spraying coats edges and corners evenly. You choose the colour at the design stage.

Doors and drawer fronts

Drawers keep controllers and games tidy close to hand. Fronts are painted to match the unit.

How fitting day works

Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, which keeps the lines straight. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Interwar houses typically have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, but the route in is still measured, not just the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it is going.

  1. You send us some details about the TV, the boxes and the speakers you use.
  2. At the design visit, we measure up and plan the screen space, cable routes and ventilation with you.
  3. Your quote follows, with the design, materials and finish set out, ready for you to check.
  4. We make the cupboards, shelves and panels in our workshop.
  5. We install the unit, leaving the cable routes and vents clear.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician ahead of time

How to get a quote

If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.

TV and media units in Eastcote: local notes

The biggest shares of homes in the area around Eastcote were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 55%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 24%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Part of Eastcote is in a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. About 55% of homes in the area around Eastcote date from between 1919 and 1939, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Houses from the 1920s and 1930s often have a bay window and a chimney breast in the front room, and TV and media units are planned around both.

If you live in a flat close to Headstone Lane station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. The wider area includes historic houses like Headstone Manor, about 1.7 miles north-east. If your own home is a period one, the alcoves beside a chimney breast are the natural place for TV and media units. Near listed buildings like Cheney Farmhouse, less than half a mile north-west of the centre of Eastcote, older homes may keep original joinery that TV and media units can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

Flats, leases and landlords

A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, after measuring the route at the design visit.

If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

Tips worth knowing

New paint needs time to cure fully, so treat it gently at first. Beyond that, these tips help:

  • Count your equipment, including routers and consoles
  • Think about whether you will upgrade the screen
  • Plan any new sockets with your electrician before fitting
  • Check where the seating will go

When you change equipment, use the cable routes we planned instead of making new ones. It keeps everything neat.

Ask your electrician about new sockets rather than running extension leads through the unit, and do not daisy-chain adaptors.

FAQs: TV and media units in Eastcote

Do you make TV and media units for homes in Eastcote?

Yes, Eastcote is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Harrow and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

I live near Headstone Lane station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Who moves the sockets for a built-in TV wall?

We don’t do electrical work. Your electrician handles sockets and wiring, and Part P of the Building Regulations covers some electrical work in homes. We share the layout so the sockets line up with the design.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.

Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?

Walls and floors that aren’t true are part of the job in older homes. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so it sits tight to the room.

Can the TV unit fit a bigger TV later?

We can size the opening for the screen you might buy next. Tell us the size you have in mind so the space and cable routes suit it.
