Need TV and media units in Waddon?
From workshop to your room
There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and it’s useful to have the room cleared beforehand, as agreed at the measuring visit. After that, it is over to us: the floors are covered, the sections come in and the fitting begins. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Parking varies a lot across London, from permit zones to private bays, so let us know what applies at the measuring visit. If you live in a flat, any lift or building rules are worth checking too.
- It starts with a short note from you about the TV wall.
- We visit to plan the unit and check the way in. Let us know about parking too, since a van may need a visitor permit or a paid bay.
- We send a quote in writing.
- The unit is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections that fit the route in.
- The sections are carried in, assembled and set level, ready for your equipment. The finish is sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.
How to prepare
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Keep pets in another room while we work
Ask for a quote
If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, send us a few details through our contact form.

TV and media units in Waddon
TV units are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood in our workshop. The finish is spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in the colour you prefer. We fit across Croydon and the rest of London. If your home has standard units leaving gaps and equipment with nowhere proper to go, that is what TV and media units are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Whether your home in Waddon is a period house, an interwar semi, a post-war flat or a newer build, the furniture is designed around your room rather than a standard size. Older rooms bring uneven walls and picture rails, while newer ones bring plasterboard walls and boxed-in pipes. We measure for whichever you have, and the pieces are made to suit.
The furniture is built in our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Your questions about TV and media units in Waddon
Do you make TV and media units for homes in Waddon?
Yes. We cover all of Croydon and the rest of London, and Waddon is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
How do you fit TV and media units in a flat in Waddon?
We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Who moves the sockets for a built-in TV wall?
That is a job for your electrician. It’s best done before the unit goes in.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
Can I send pictures before the visit?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough measurements. It is useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, and furniture inside a house does not normally need it. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
Is bespoke worth it?
Standalone TV units cost less and arrive quickly. It is also easy to replace a stand when your equipment changes, which is a fair point in its favour. Bespoke units are made for one wall and the things you use. Standalone furniture leaves gaps behind and above it that gather dust, while fitted pieces are scribed tight to the walls and ceiling.
The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, then set it out in the quote.
What you get with us
- We visit, measure and go through the design before we quote
- More than 300 projects completed
- Saturdays by prior arrangement
- Designed for the room you have

Flat-pack or bespoke?
It’s worth being honest about cost: flat-pack is normally cheaper to buy. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is tricky, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
If you’re handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.
Where other trades come in
We are carpenters, so some jobs belong to other trades. These are worth knowing before you plan:
- Setting up and tuning the TV, boxes and speakers
- Installing aerials, satellite dishes or broadband
- Any electrical work (your electrician handles that, and Part P covers some of it)
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can use our contact form and we will give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Living-room carpentry in Waddon: local notes
In the streets around Waddon, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 29%) and the years since 2000 (about 25%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how TV and media units are fixed and fitted. Near the centre of Waddon, Historic England’s list includes Airport House (Grade II*), about 0.6 miles south-west, and Church of St George (Grade II), less than half a mile south. If your own home is listed, works inside that affect its character, such as fixing into or removing original joinery, can require listed building consent. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London since it reached the outer boroughs on 29 August 2023. Vans bringing furniture to Waddon fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. Access and parking are talked through at the design visit.
For a family home near Aerodrome Primary Academy, TV and media units can be planned with low cupboards for toys and higher shelves for everything else. If you live in a period home close to Church of St George, walls that bow and floors that slope are why TV and media units are scribed to fit rather than pushed into place. Living in a block of flats near Waddon station? Then TV and media units are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways not just the room, so each section is sized to get through without a struggle.
We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.
