Well Hall TV and Media Units

Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make TV and media units for homes in Well Hall, each designed at a visit to your home.

  • Boxes and consoles on the floor
  • A cabinet that traps heat
  • Wasted space around the screen

What prompts TV and media units in Well Hall

Families with consoles, games and controllers want them tidied away. Drawers and cupboards hold them out of sight, and open shelves hold what’s used every day.

People normally get in touch with us about things like these:

  • Empty alcoves beside the TV
  • A TV that looks out of place in the room
  • Bought furniture that does not suit the room
  • Games, controllers and remotes everywhere

Eltham Palace, about 0.7 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, the alcoves beside a chimney breast are the natural place for TV and media units.

TV and media units for homes in Well Hall

Speakers need their own thought. A soundbar can sit on a shelf below the screen, and larger speakers can go on open shelves either side. Speakers work best in the open rather than behind closed doors. If your home has a cabinet that traps heat and space for a soundbar and speakers, that is what TV and media units are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

Ceilings in interwar houses tend to be lower than in Victorian ones, and the proportions of TV and media units are set to match. If yours is one of the interwar houses, semis or detached homes that make up much of the housing around Well Hall, the cornice may be plain or missing, so the furniture can run straight to the ceiling. Any skirting is cut around neatly.

After the design visit, we send you a written quote. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you are getting.

Before and after fitting day

None of this takes much effort. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Mention parking and stairs when we visit
  • Plan any new sockets with your electrician before fitting
  • Check each box’s guidance on ventilation and clearances
  • Think about the viewing height from your sofa

Dust collects around equipment and vents, so clean them now and then. It keeps air moving.

Ask your electrician about new sockets rather than running extension leads through the unit, and do not overload sockets.

Why bespoke in Well Hall?

Off-the-shelf TV units come in a few set colours. Ours are painted in a colour agreed with you, sprayed in the workshop or painted by hand. Ready-made units come in standard depths that rarely suit every space, which may be too deep for one spot and too shallow for another. With fitted furniture, the depth is chosen for the room.

Every room is priced on its own, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

Why choose us

  • We work across all London boroughs
  • Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Designed for the room you have
  • A spray or hand-painted finish

How fitting day works

On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections made in our workshop. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the unit and how many cupboards and shelves it has, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors are covered from the door to the room.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about the room and your equipment, including the size of the screen.
  2. At the design visit, we measure up and plan the screen space, cable routes and ventilation with you. New sockets or wiring are for your electrician, so it helps to have them in mind early.
  3. We send a written quote for the unit.
  4. Each section is built in our workshop to the measurements we took, with openings for cables and air.
  5. We fit it in your home, with the cable routes ready to use.

Before fitting day

  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Keep pets in another room while we work

Ask for a quote

The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a written quote, so you can take your time with it. To book one, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Advice

Questions from Well Hall

Is parking a problem for fitting in Well Hall?

It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Eltham station?

Yes. We cover all of Greenwich and the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

Can a built-in unit hide all the wires?

We design the unit so cables run out of sight. Routes, openings and removable panels let you add or change leads later without taking the unit apart. If the TV is wall-mounted, we plan a route behind the screen.

Do I choose the paint colour?

You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you, and it is set out in the quote.

Do pictures help?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, especially with rough measurements. You can send them when you get in touch through our contact form.

What happens at the design visit?

We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a quote in writing.

Living-room storage in Well Hall

In the area around Well Hall, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 58%) and before 1919 (about 22%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Well Hall include Well Hall Art Gallery (Grade II*), less than half a mile west, and Cliefden House (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles south-east. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for example removing original joinery or fixing into it, may need listed building consent from the council. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. All of London, Greenwich included, is inside the ULEZ. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Well Hall is covered by it. Parking and access are planned at the design visit.

For a family home near Gordon Primary School, a cupboard for board games and a shelf for reading books can go into the same design. If you live near Eltham Common, a room that looks out on trees deserves a design that leaves the window alone.
