Fitted wardrobes in Well Hall, Greenwich
Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make fitted wardrobes for homes in Well Hall, each designed at a visit to your home.
- A tight bedroom where doors get in the way
- A sloping ceiling that is hard to use
- Wardrobes that are full to bursting
Ask about fitted wardrobes in Well Hall
Is it time for fitted wardrobes?
Couples often want storage that works for two. A fitted wardrobe can be planned with separate sections, each with its own mix of hanging, shelves and drawers.
Here’s what fitted wardrobes can help with:
- A room too narrow for hinged doors
- Dusty space on top of the wardrobe
- Not enough hanging space
- A bedroom that never feels tidy
Living in a block of flats near Eltham station? Then it is useful to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- A written quote that sets out the job
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
- Have they thought about parking near you?
Fitted wardrobes in Well Hall
You can choose hinged or sliding doors. Hinged doors open a whole section at once, though they need room in front to open. Sliding doors suit tighter rooms, although only part of the wardrobe is open at a time. We weigh them up with you at the measuring visit. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are too little room for clothes and a bedroom that never feels tidy.
Many 1930s houses have had a loft conversion, adding a bedroom under a sloping ceiling, and that slope can be used for storage built to the angle. Around Well Hall, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a large part of the housing. We work in lofts that are already converted, and the furniture is scribed to the slope and the walls.
We write quotes in plain English. You will see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, all taken from the design visit.

Bedroom storage in Well Hall
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Well Hall were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 58%) and before 1919 (about 22%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. The National Heritage List records 17 entries within half a mile of the centre of Well Hall. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. In inner London, a large part of the street parking sits inside borough-run controlled parking zones. So a van fitting furniture in Well Hall typically needs a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay arranged through the council. Parking is worth mentioning at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.
For an older house near St Barnabas, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. The wider area includes historic houses such as Eltham Palace, about 0.7 miles south. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design.
Well Hall is about 2 miles north-east of Plumstead, part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. From period terraces to newer flats in Well Hall, we measure the room as it is and design around it. Our work takes in places right across Greenwich, from the busiest high streets to quiet residential roads.

Fitting day, step by step
When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop, a piece at a time. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. If you have a driveway, it can make unloading simpler, so let us know at the measuring visit. Otherwise, details of permits or nearby bays help. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.
- You get in touch about fitted wardrobes for your bedroom, with a rough idea of what you need to hang and fold.
- At the design visit, we measure the room, check the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the doors and inside with you.
- We send a quote in writing with the layout, materials and finish.
- We build the wardrobes in our workshop, in sections sized to get into your home.
- We fit them in your home, scribe them to the walls and hang the doors. The rails, shelves and drawers go in last.

- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
- Empty the space we will be working in
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
Getting a quote
The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing. To arrange the visit, message us from the contact page.

Caring for painted furniture
A few practical points help before and after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:
- Count how much long hanging and short hanging you need
- Mention if the wardrobe will go on an external wall
- Check your lease before fixing furniture to walls in a leasehold flat
- Check the route into your flat, not just the room
Do not pack clothes tight against the back panel. Air moving through helps avoid condensation and mould.
Let doors close gently rather than slamming, and slide doors without forcing them. It keeps hinges and runners in adjustment longer.
What fitted wardrobes can’t fix
Electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering and structural work aren’t part of what we do. There are a few other points to bear in mind:
- Electrical work, such as moving sockets or switches, which is for your electrician
- Painting walls and ceilings, or repairing plaster
- Taking out a chimney breast to make space
Not sure whether your space suits fitted wardrobes? You can get in touch through our contact form and we will tell you. How it works.
Materials and parts
- Spray-painted finish
- Hinged or sliding doors
- Hand-painted finish

- Birch plywood
- Moisture-resistant MDF
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.
A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.
FAQs: fitted wardrobes in Well Hall
I live near Eltham station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Greenwich and the rest of London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Well Hall?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two ways to finish it: spray painted or hand painted. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
Who chooses the colour?
You do. The paint colour is agreed with you before anything is painted.
How is the inside of the wardrobe planned?
It’s worked out with you when we measure, starting from the clothes you have. Some shelves can be adjustable so the layout can change.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need someone to let us in. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
