TV and Media Units in Woodford Bridge
Planning TV and media units for a home in Woodford Bridge? We start with a design visit and a written quote, before anything is made.
- Clutter around the TV
- A TV that looks out of place in the room
- Empty alcoves beside the TV
TV and media units designed for your room
What affects the price in Woodford Bridge
Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. This is what makes the difference:
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- Parking and unloading on your street
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- The overall size of the piece
Getting to the room affects the job as well. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections. The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose.
What to send when you contact us
What helps most when you first contact us:
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
A quote begins with some details from you: the room, rough sizes and some photos if you have them. When you’re ready, fill in our short enquiry form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.
TV and media units in Woodford Bridge
In many period living rooms, the chimney breast and its two alcoves shape the whole wall. The alcoves can take cupboards for equipment and shelves above. Any chimney vent is kept clear. We make TV and media units from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are a TV that looks out of place in the room and boxes and consoles on the floor.
A typical 1930s semi has a bay window at the front and a chimney breast with a recess either side. Around Woodford Bridge, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing, so it’s a layout worth planning for. We tend to plan TV and media units along the chimney breast wall so the bay keeps its light, though every room is measured first.
Once you’ve read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is made in our workshop. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so every detail can be checked first.

Fitting day, step by step
Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the unit and the cable routes planned into it, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in, and the sections are assembled in place.
- You describe the TV wall and your equipment.
- A design visit follows, where we measure and agree the layout.
- We put the design, materials and finish into a written quote. If anything in it is unclear, ask us.
- We then make the unit in our workshop, with cable routes planned in.
- The unit is fitted in your home, ready for your equipment, with the cable routes left clear.
Before fitting day
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager

Advice
Your questions about TV and media units in Woodford Bridge
I live near Highams Park station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Redbridge and the rest of London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Woodford Bridge?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.
How do I get a quote?
Simply drop us a line using the contact form. It’s useful to send rough sizes and a few pictures, and then we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design.
How do you stop equipment overheating in a TV unit?
We plan ventilation into the unit for boxes, consoles and amplifiers, with open backs, gaps or openings. Each box should have its own space.
Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?
Possibly. It depends on your lease, and some need consent for alterations. We cannot give advice on your lease, so it’s worth checking before fitting day.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you get in touch.
When you need someone else
Before you plan the job, it helps to know what we do not do:
- Any electrical work (your electrician handles that, and Part P covers some of it)
- Aerial, satellite or broadband installation
- Plastering or decorating around the unit
Not sure whether your space suits TV and media units? You can message us from the contact page and we will tell you. How a job runs, step by step.

Woodford Bridge homes and TV and media units
In the streets around Woodford Bridge, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 49%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 24%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how TV and media units are fixed and fitted. The National Heritage List records 13 entries within half a mile of the centre of Woodford Bridge. Being near listed buildings doesn’t make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. If your street in Woodford Bridge joins a main road, it is worth telling us at the design visit. Then we can work out where to load and unload.
For an older house near Church of St Paul, picture rails and cornices give TV and media units a line to finish at. For a family home near Roding Primary School, low doors that small hands can open, with books and ornaments higher up, suit a busy family room. The wider area includes historic houses like Valentines Mansion, about 2.3 miles south. For a period home anywhere nearby, walls that bow and floors that slope are why TV and media units are scribed to fit rather than pushed into place.
Woodford Bridge is part of the London Borough of Redbridge, about 1 mile west of Woodford. We can visit homes in Woodford Bridge on weekdays, or on a Saturday by arrangement. In Redbridge, Woodford Bridge is one of the places we cover, and the borough has 18 places on our list.
In IG8, IG5 and IG7, the process is the same as anywhere else in London. Flats, conversions and lettings
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you.
Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, often to make the most of a small or awkward room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Why bespoke in Woodford Bridge?
Bought units come in the maker’s finishes. We paint ours in the colour you choose, sprayed in the workshop or painted by hand. The spaces between doors, windows and radiators are seldom a stock size, so ready-made furniture often ends up in the wrong place. Fitted furniture is designed around them.
Every room is priced on its own, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.
