Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Northolt
Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Northolt
Most designs start with the hanging. Long hanging suits coats and dresses, and two rails stacked one above the other suit shirts, jackets and trousers. We plan the mix around what you actually wear. If your home has shelves for shoes and bags and a bedroom without crowded wardrobes, walk-in wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.
Many 1930s houses have had a loft conversion, adding a bedroom under a sloping ceiling, and that slope can be used for storage built to the angle. Around Northolt, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a large part of the housing. We work in lofts that are already converted, with each piece scribed to the slope and set level.
You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and talk it over at home. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

What happens on fitting day
Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Interwar houses typically have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, though we still measure the route in as well as the room. Walk-in wardrobes arrive in sections and are assembled in place, with floors protected throughout.
- You tell us about the room.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling at several points, as few rooms are truly square.
- A written quote follows.
- The units are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the units and trim the edges to meet the walls and ceiling.
- We check everything with you, and fresh paint should be treated gently at first.
Before we arrive
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Let us know about parking near your home
Getting a quote
The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and talk through the design with you. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing for you to look over. To book one, tell us about the room on our contact form.

What it costs
We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. These are the things that affect it:
- The width and height of the space
- The number of doors and drawers
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.
What to send when you get in touch
A little information at the start saves time later. If you can, send:
- Your postcode and the borough
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- What the furniture needs to hold
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
You don’t need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit. To arrange it, drop us a line using the contact form and let us know about the room. The written quote follows the visit.

Caring for painted furniture
Most of what helps is simple. What we’d suggest:
- Think about whether you want doors
- Keep the room ventilated
- Treat new paintwork gently at first
- Plan shoe storage around what you own
Where we’ve fitted adjustable shelves, you can move them, so the space keeps working. It’s worth a rethink each season.
Before the design visit, sort through your clothes. We plan the layout around your clothes, so it is worth having a sort-out first.
Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Northolt
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Northolt were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 42%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 28%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how walk-in wardrobes are fixed and fitted. The Northolt Village Green Conservation Area is close by, within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Northolt. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. About 42% of homes in the neighbourhood around Northolt date from between 1919 and 1939, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Houses from that era often have a box room over the stairs, with a raised bulkhead in the floor, which suits fitted storage made around its bulkhead.
Close to Northala Fields? Morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they will not shade the window. Northolt Manor, about 0.3 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go. If your home is one of the older houses near St Richard's Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Northolt
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Northolt?
Yes, we work across Ealing, Northolt included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with a few details.
My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?
That is normal in older homes, and it is what scribing is for. Edges are scribed to the wall, and adjustable feet or a plinth bring the furniture up to level.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.
Can you turn a small spare room into a dressing room?
Often, yes. The layout depends on the room, the door and the window, so we work it out when we measure.
What does a walk-in wardrobe cost?
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Each walk-in wardrobe is different, so we price it after the design visit. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
