Common questions about fitted wardrobes
Can you make fitted wardrobes for a home in Northolt?
Yes, we work across Ealing, Northolt included, and across the rest of London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Northolt Park station?
Yes. We cover all of Ealing and the rest of London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Can I send pictures before the visit?
Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, especially with rough sizes. You can send them when you tell us about the room on our contact form.
How long does it take to fit wardrobes?
It depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. The making happens in our workshop.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not typically. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?
It depends on the room. Hinged doors give full access but need clear space in front; sliding doors suit narrow rooms, though only part of the inside is open at once. We talk through both at the measuring visit.
Fitted wardrobes in Northolt
Hanging heights are planned around your clothes, not a catalogue. Long coats and dresses need one tall section, while shirts, jackets and folded trousers suit two rails, one above the other. We also think about who uses it. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are wardrobes that are full to bursting and damp or musty clothes against an external wall.
Around Northolt, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the spare room may be the small one at the front, over the hall and stairs. That is where fitted wardrobes earn their place, making a small room work as a dressing room, a guest room or both. Every wall is measured and checked, even in a house that looks square.
Everything we agree during the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

What fitted wardrobes cannot fix
Before you plan the job, it helps to know what we do not do:
- Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
- Decorating or plastering the room
- Structural changes to the room
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can fill in our short enquiry form and we’ll give you a straight answer. How a job runs, step by step.
What goes into it
- Spray-painted finish
- Hand-painted finish
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Birch plywood
- Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
- Hinged or sliding doors
Flat-pack or bespoke?
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it’s easy to buy.
Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that are not square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths.
The problems fitted wardrobes solve
A move is a common trigger. Wardrobes from an old home rarely suit a new room. Fitted wardrobes are designed for the room you have now.
Fitted wardrobes can help with:
- Wardrobes that are full to bursting
- A tight bedroom where doors get in the way
- A sloping ceiling that’s hard to use
- Storage boxes stacked under the bed
If you live near Northala Fields, morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window.

- Will they visit to measure before quoting?
- How they handle walls that are not straight

From workshop to your room
There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. It helps to clear the room and the route before we arrive. Fitting day starts with protecting the floors and setting out the pieces. Each piece is levelled, scribed where the wall wanders and fixed to suit the wall.
- It starts when you let us know about the room, the floor it is on and the wardrobes you want.
- At the design visit we plan the wardrobes with you and check the route in, including any lift or tight stair turn.
- You receive a quote in writing for the wardrobes.
- In our workshop the wardrobes are built in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, so each piece fits through the doors and round the landings.
- We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls and ceiling.
Before fitting day
- Empty the space we will be working in
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Northolt
The biggest shares of homes in the area around Northolt were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 42%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 28%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Near the centre of Northolt, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Mary (Grade I), less than half a mile south. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling may need listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If your home in Northolt is on or near a main road, tell us during the design visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.
If your home is one of the older houses near St Richard's Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design. For a flat near Northolt Park station, the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it.

What it’s made from
Spray-painted finish
Spraying coats edges and corners evenly. The colour is agreed at the design stage.
Hanging rails
A long rail needs a support in the middle to carry a full load. We plan the rail lengths with that in mind.
