Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Greenford

Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 61% of the housing in the streets around Greenford, with about 15% built since 2000, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Greenford include Betham House (Grade II), under half a mile south. For a listed home, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent from the council, for instance removing or fixing into original panelling. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Controlled parking zones are common across London, and Ealing sets its own rules. If your road in Greenford falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.

Living in a block of flats near Greenford station? Then check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. If you live near Northala Fields, walk-in wardrobes are normally planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. Northolt Manor, about 1 mile north-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice.

Greenford is part of the London Borough of Ealing, about 3 miles south-east of Ealing. Anywhere in Greenford, the process is the same: we visit and measure, send a written quote, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. Our work takes in places right across Ealing, large and small.

Here we cover the UB6, UB5 and UB1 postcode area for walk-in wardrobes. We cover homes on streets like Courthope Road, Oldfield Farm Gardens and Greenford Road, for walk-in wardrobes and any of our other fitted furniture. Main roads around Greenford include the A4090 and A4127, and we plan where the van can stop before fitting day. Nearby, we also make walk-in wardrobes in Northolt (1 mile north-west), Perivale (1 mile east), Sudbury (2 miles north-east), Sudbury Hill (2 miles north-east) and Dormers Wells (2 miles south-west). Across the rest of Ealing, our area takes in Ealing (3 miles south-east), Acton (4 miles south-east), Southall (3 miles south-west), Acton Green (4 miles south-east), Bedford Park (5 miles south-east) and Northfields (3 miles south-east). Greenford is one of the larger places we cover in Ealing.

How we make walk-in wardrobes for Greenford

Drawers, shelves and shoe storage make a walk-in wardrobe work day to day. Shelves suit folded clothes and bags, smaller things go in drawers and shoes can have racks or shelves of their own. A dressing table with a mirror can be built in where there’s space. People typically come to us about hanging for coats, dresses and shirts and shelves for shoes and bags; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

Around Greenford, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the third bedroom is often small, sitting over the stairs. That is where walk-in wardrobes earn their place, making a small room work as a dressing room, a guest room or both. Nothing is assumed: the room is measured wall by wall.

Once you have read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is built in our workshop. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so every detail can be checked first.

From workshop to your room

Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Interwar houses normally have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, though we still measure the route in not just the room. Walk-in wardrobes arrive in sections and are assembled in place.

  1. We start with the room you have in mind and what needs a home. It could be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom.
  2. We come to measure the room and go through how the space should work, with shoe storage and a dressing table if you’d like them.
  3. We send a quote that sets out the layout, materials and finish.
  4. We build the carcasses, drawers and shelves in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We bring everything to your home and fit it to the room.

Getting a quote

A quote begins with some details from you: the room, rough measurements and some photos if you have them. When you are ready, drop us a line using the contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a written quote.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

A basic rail system is easy to change, and that has real appeal. A fitted walk-in wardrobe adds doors, drawers and shelves where you want them, in a finish that suits the house. In an extended or opened-up house, old and new walls often meet slightly out of line, and straight-sided ready-made units make that obvious. Fitted pieces are scribed to both.

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

FAQs: walk-in wardrobes in Greenford

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Greenford station?

Yes. We cover all of Ealing and the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Greenford?

Yes, we work across Ealing, Greenford included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can use our contact form with a few details.

What if my walls and floors are out of level?

It’s something we deal with all the time. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base.

Is a box room big enough for a walk-in wardrobe?

Often, yes. We can line a small room with hanging, shelving and drawers, while leaving space to stand and turn. We check the room at the measuring visit.

Does fitted furniture need planning permission?

Not typically. Conservation areas mostly control changes to the outside, and furniture inside a house does not normally need it. In a listed building, check with the council’s conservation officer before any work.

Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?

It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. We do not treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

Flats, conversions and lettings

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t advise on your lease.

If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

Before and after fitting day

Fresh paintwork takes a while to cure fully, so treat it gently at first. Beyond that, these tips help:

  • Think about whether you want doors
  • Sort through your clothes before the design visit
  • Plan lighting with your electrician
  • Leave room for air behind hanging clothes

Adjustable shelves can be moved as your clothes change to suit what you store. It is worth a rethink each season.

If you live in a leasehold flat, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Your lease is something to check with whoever manages the building.

Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Greenford

Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. The things that affect it are:

  • Parking near your home
  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • The width and height of the space

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We will talk through what you need inside at the design visit, then set it out in the quote.

Getting in touch

To give us a picture of the room, it is useful to include:

  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth
  • Where you live, with the postcode
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any

You don’t need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, send us a few details through our contact form and let us know about the room. The written quote follows the visit.
