Wall beds for your home in Eastcote
About our wall beds in Eastcote
Many people now work from home in a room that also has to sleep guests. A wall bed with a desk or shelves beside it lets the room do both, so the bed doesn’t dominate the working day. Cable routes for the desk can be planned in, while new sockets are for your electrician. If you are living with storage built around a fold-down bed and a hobby room with a bed for guests, wall beds made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.
A loft conversion is a common way to add a bedroom to a semi or an interwar house, and that slope can be used for storage built to the angle. Around Eastcote, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a large part of the housing. We work in lofts that are already converted, and the furniture is scribed to the slope and the walls.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. The finish is stated too, whether that is spray painting or hand painting.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
A standard bed is simple and needs no mechanism, and that has its appeal. But if the room has other jobs to do, a wall bed lets it do them every day. The spaces between doors, windows and radiators are seldom a stock size, so ready-made furniture often ends up in the wrong place. Built-in pieces are planned around those fixed points.
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

Common questions about wall beds
I live near Headstone Lane station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Harrow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
Does a conservation area in or near Eastcote affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character may need listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
How is the furniture painted?
You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
How do you get large furniture into a flat?
The furniture is built in sections, sized for the route not just the room. That’s why we measure the stairs, lift and doorways at the measuring visit.
How much time does fitting need?
The time the fitting takes depends on the bed, the cabinets and the wall it fixes to, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We will talk it through at the design visit.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.
Wall beds in Eastcote: local notes
About 55% of the homes in the streets around Eastcote went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 24% between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. The National Heritage List records 5 entries within half a mile of the centre of Eastcote. Being near listed buildings doesn’t make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. Parking controls in London are set borough by borough, so Harrow has its own. If your street in Eastcote is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed. We ask about parking at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Headstone Manor, about 1.7 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind wall beds is part of the design. If you live in a period home close to St Lawrence, tall ceilings give wall beds room to reach the cornice. If you live in a flat close to Headstone Lane station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.
Eastcote is part of the London Borough of Harrow, about 2 miles east of Harrow. Eastcote is part of the area we cover, and the process is the same everywhere we work. Our work takes in places right across Harrow, large and small.
Here we cover the HA5, HA4 and HA2 postcode area for wall beds. Streets in the area include Hill Road, Bridle Road and Cannon Lane, and we cover homes on all of them for wall beds. We also cover Pinner (1 mile north), Roxbourne (1 mile south-east), Pinner Green (1 mile north), Rayners Lane (1 mile south-east) and North Harrow (1 mile east). Elsewhere in Harrow, we also cover Stanmore (4 miles north-east), Harrow Weald (3 miles north-east), Wealdstone (3 miles east), Little Stanmore (5 miles east), Greenhill (2 miles east) and South Harrow (2 miles south-east).
Landmarks near Eastcote
Around Eastcote, we cover homes near Pinner High School, Heathfield School and The Whittington pub and the streets around them. The closest station to Eastcote is Headstone Lane station, about 1.9 miles north-east. Other landmarks nearby include Heath Robinson Museum (0.6 miles north) and Northwood and Pinner Cottage Hospital (1.7 miles north-west).
DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot normally do that in an older room.
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.
From workshop to your room
Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. The time the fitting takes depends on the bed, the cabinets and the wall it fixes to, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Interwar houses normally have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, but the route in is still measured, not just the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it is going, with floors protected throughout.

Practical tips
People planning wall beds often ask about these. They help before and after fitting:
- Keep the floor in front clear before lowering the bed
- Measure the clear space in front of the wall
- Choose a mattress that suits the mechanism
- Leaseholders: check your lease first
Check the mattress stays within the limits the mechanism maker sets, as a heavier one can affect how the bed balances. A new mattress should suit the mechanism too.
Check how the cabinet will get into the room. Furniture made in a workshop comes in sections sized for stairs, landings and lifts, so it’s useful to know about tight turns.
