Wall beds for your home in Staples Corner
Wall beds in Staples Corner
We fit wall beds in Staples Corner and across London. First comes a design visit, where we measure and look at the wall, followed by a quote. We make everything in our workshop and fit it in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the design and how much storage goes around the bed, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote, so you will know in advance. If you are living with a playroom that can sleep visitors and a study that doubles as a spare room, that is what wall beds are for, made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
The front bedroom in many 1920s and 1930s houses sits above a bay, which leaves the side walls for storage and the bay for light. Interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing around Staples Corner, so that shape of room is worth knowing. We measure every wall, even where the room looks square.
You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

The problems wall beds solve
Others want the bed to be part of a wider storage wall. Shelves, cupboards or a desk built around it turn one wall into storage, workspace and a bed.
A few of the things people ask us to solve include:
- Hiding the bed when it is not in use
- A guest room that sits empty most of the time
- A proper bed instead of a sofa bed
- Room for a desk and a guest bed
If you live near Clarefield Park, morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they will not shade the window.
Before you hire any carpenter
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
- Is it spray painted or hand painted?
- Where they’ll park and unload
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the design visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it.

More than a third of the homes in the streets around Staples Corner (about 38%) date from between 1919 and 1939, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Many interwar houses have a small room over the stairs, a good spot for fitted furniture built around the bulkhead.
For a family home near Parkfield Primary School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. Near listed buildings like Church of St John, about 0.6 miles north-west of the centre of Staples Corner, older homes may keep original joinery that wall beds can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

What it costs
Not every room costs the same, for these reasons:
- Spray painting or hand painting
- The width and height of the space
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- The number of doors and drawers
We do not publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, talk through the design and then quote in writing. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.
Helping us understand the room
When you contact us, these help most:
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing. To book one, get in touch through our contact form.
Questions from Staples Corner
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Staples Corner?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.
How do you get large furniture into a flat?
The furniture is built in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. That is why we measure the stairs, lift and doorways during the design visit.
What materials do you use?
Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. MDF gives a smooth, stable surface for paint; birch plywood is strong and good for shelves and drawer boxes, and the quote says which is used where.
Is a mattress included with the wall bed?
The mechanism maker sets limits on mattress size and weight. We go through the mechanism’s limits when we measure, so you can choose with confidence.
Can landlords use you for a rented flat?
Yes. We make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let as well as for homeowners. Access has to be agreed with the tenants.
From workshop to your room
Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the bed, the cabinets and the wall it fixes to, and your quote sets out the fitting days. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in.
- First, you let us know about the room and how you’d like it to work. A desk or shelving around the bed can be part of it.
- We visit, measure up and check the wall the bed will fix to.
- A written quote follows, covering the cabinet, the storage and the finish.
- The bed cabinet and any shelves or desk are built in our workshop.
- We fit it in your home, with the mechanism fixed as its maker specifies. The finish is sprayed in our workshop or painted by hand on site.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
