Wall beds designed for your room

Do you need wall beds in Tokyngton?

The most common reason is a spare room that’s rarely slept in. A standard bed takes up the floor all the time, and folding it away gives the room a second life.

Wall beds can help with:

  • Somewhere comfortable for guests to sleep
  • A study that doubles as a spare room
  • A hobby room with a bed for guests
  • A studio that works by day and night

Close to St. Raphael's Edible Garden? Morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window.

Questions to ask before you hire anyone

  • Whether the finish is set out in the quote
  • Whether you will get a written quote, not just a figure
  • How the doors are hung and adjusted
  • Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?

About our wall beds in Tokyngton

Studio flats benefit more than most from a bed that folds away. By day, the room is a living space; at night, the bed comes down. Storage and shelving can go on either side or above to make the most of the wall. We make wall beds from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and people most often get in touch about shelves or a desk around the bed and a real mattress for visitors.

In a compact bedroom, the swing of hinged doors can clash with the bed, so sliding doors or a careful layout can help. Many homes around Tokyngton were built since 2000, and bedrooms in newer homes are often compact. We measure the space in front as well as the wall.

Everything we agree at the measuring visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

Common questions about wall beds

Can you make wall beds for a home in Tokyngton?

Yes. We cover all of Brent and the rest of London, and Tokyngton is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, and then we send a quote.

Do you cover homes near Stonebridge Park station?

Yes. We cover all of Brent and the rest of London. To get started, you can use our contact form with a few details about the room.

Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?

There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.

How do you get large furniture into a flat?

The furniture is built in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. That’s why we measure the stairs, lift and doorways during the design visit.

Are fold-down beds safe to use?

Wall beds are made for regular use when fixed and used as its maker specifies. We fix the mechanism securely to a sound wall or floor, and the maker’s guidance on use should always be followed.

Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?

Possibly. A lease can require consent for alterations. Check your lease, as we can’t advise on it.

What happens on fitting day

Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the bed, the cabinets and the wall it fixes to, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Newer homes often have finished floors, painted walls and new doors that mark easily, so everything on the way in is covered before the sections arrive. Corners and door frames are covered as well. The sections are assembled in the room.

  1. First, you tell us about the room and how you’d like it to work.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room, look at the wall and go through the design.
  3. A written quote follows, covering the cabinet, the storage and the finish, for you to look over.
  4. We build and finish the bed housing and storage in our workshop, from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit everything in your home and check the bed lowers and lifts smoothly. The finish is sprayed in our workshop or painted by hand on site.

Before fitting day

  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Tell us about parking near your home
  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know

Getting a quote

We quote once we have seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and discuss the design with you, then send a written quote. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. To book a design visit, use our contact form.

What affects the price in Tokyngton

When we put a quote together, we consider:

  • The width and height of the space
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • Parking near your home

How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

What to send when you contact us

A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:

  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • Any ideas or images you’ve saved
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Your postcode and the borough

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, use our contact form.

Flats, conversions and lettings

In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. At the design visit, we measure the stairs, the landings, any lift and the doors, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through without a struggle.

A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, once we’ve measured the way in.

What it’s made from

Moisture-resistant MDF

MDF stays flat and paints beautifully, so it suits the doors on the bed cabinet.

Bed mechanism housing

The mechanism sets the size of the housing and the bed size you choose.
