In Ardleigh Green, we design bespoke kitchens around the room you actually have. We design your kitchen at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.
- A kitchen for a room that is not square
- A painted kitchen in a colour you choose
- A larder for food and small appliances

Boards, parts and paint
Birch plywood
Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which matters in drawers and shelves that carry weight. Its layered edge can be shown or painted.
Plinths and scribe strips
These details are what make a kitchen look built for an older room.

A larder cupboard can hold more than a run of wall units. A larder can have shelves, deep drawers and racks, planned around what you store. In an alcove or at the end of a run, it can use space that would otherwise be wasted. People usually come to us about a painted kitchen in a colour you choose and a kitchen island with room around it; the furniture is made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Around Ardleigh Green, interwar houses or semi-detached and detached homes make up a good part of the housing. Many 1930s houses started with a small kitchen at the back that has since been extended or knocked through. A bespoke kitchen can be planned around the room as it is now, with an island where space allows.
A written quote is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It sets out the kitchen designed for your room, its materials and its finish, and the workshop works from it.

Where other trades come in
Not everything around bespoke kitchens is carpentry, like an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here’s what to know:
- Moving water or waste pipes
- Structural changes to the room
- Wiring for appliances and lights

How fitting day works
In older rooms, the furniture usually has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it looks as though it was always there. How long fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in.
- It starts with a short note from you about the room.
- At the design visit we measure the kitchen and the route in, including stairs, doorways and any lift. Let us know about parking too, as a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension.
- A written quote follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish.
- In our workshop we build the kitchen from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in pieces that suit the route in.
- The cabinets are fitted in your home with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish; plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
Arranging a design visit
The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and talk through the design with you. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing, so you can take your time with it. To arrange the visit, get in touch through our contact form.
Related advice
Flats, blocks and rented homes
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways as well as the room, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through.
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so let us know about it at the measuring visit.
Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Ardleigh Green
Do you cover homes near Gidea Park station?
Yes. We cover all of Havering and the rest of London. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Ardleigh Green?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
What happens when you come to measure?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We’ll also ask about access and parking.
Do you supply the worktop and appliances?
The worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose, and the cabinets are made to suit them. Your quote sets out what’s included.
How are bespoke kitchens priced?
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Every kitchen is different, so we quote once we have measured. To get started, send us a few details through our contact form.
Should I send photos?
Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, particularly with rough sizes. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form.
Made-to-measure kitchens in Ardleigh Green
About 46% of the homes in the streets around Ardleigh Green went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 29% between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Ardleigh Green include The Royal Liberty School (Grade II*), less than half a mile north-west. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, can require listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. Red routes, run by TfL, have strict rules on stopping and loading. Where a home in Ardleigh Green is on or beside a main road, it helps to mention that at the design visit. We will plan where the van can stop.
The wider area includes historic houses like Hare Hall, about 0.3 miles north-west. If your own home is a period one, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout. For a family home near Ardleigh Green Junior School, a kitchen with a spot for school letters and lunch boxes makes mornings easier. For an older house near All Saints, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top.

Pricing bespoke kitchens in Ardleigh Green
There is no set price, because there’s no set room. What affects it comes down to:
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- The internal fittings
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Parking and unloading on your street
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, and the quote follows.
What to send when you get in touch
A few details help us understand the job before we visit. It is useful to include:
- Examples of the look you are after
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
To get a quote, send us a few details through our contact form and let us know which room you have in mind and roughly what you’d like. We then arrange a design visit to measure and discuss the design, and a written quote follows.
