Bespoke kitchens for homes in Grahame Park

A larder cupboard can hold more than a run of wall units. We can build larders with shelves, drawers or racks inside the doors, sized to what you keep in them. In an alcove or at the end of a run, it can use space that would otherwise be wasted. If your home has cabinets for a narrow kitchen and a kitchen for a room that isn’t square, kitchens made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.

Single-wall kitchens are common in newer open-plan homes. Around Grahame Park, many homes date from 2000 onwards, so tall cupboards and wall cabinets to the ceiling are worth considering. You choose the worktop, sink and appliances.

You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

  • Structural changes to the room
  • Gas work, which is for a Gas Safe registered engineer

Grahame Park homes and bespoke kitchens

Homes built since 2000 make up about 54% of the housing in the area around Grahame Park, with about 20% built between 1973 and 1999, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how kitchens are fixed and fitted. There are 8 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Grahame Park. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. About 54% of homes around Grahame Park were built since 2000, well above the figure for Barnet as a whole, about 19%, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Newer homes often have stud walls and compact rooms, so fixings and sizes are planned with that in mind.

If you live in a flat close to Mill Hill Broadway station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. If your children go to St James' Catholic High School or a school nearby, a kitchen with a spot for school letters and lunch boxes makes mornings easier. If you live near Sunny Hill Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.

Caring for painted furniture

Most of what helps is simple. What we’d suggest:

  • Think about how the cabinets will get in
  • Share the layout with your other trades
  • List what needs a home in the kitchen
  • Check there’s room around an island before planning one

If a hand-painted door gets a chip, it can be touched in. Spray-painted finishes are smooth and even, and clean easily with a soft cloth. Keep a note of the paint colours.

If you live in a leasehold flat, check your lease before changing the kitchen. We can’t advise on your lease.

What it is made from

Hand-painted finish

Hand painting gives a softer, traditional look in an older home.

Birch plywood

Deep pan drawers need a strong box, so birch plywood is a good choice.

Common questions about bespoke kitchens

I live near Mill Hill Broadway station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Barnet and the rest of London. To get started, you can use our contact form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in Grahame Park?

Yes. We cover all of Barnet and the rest of London, and Grahame Park is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?

There are two ways to finish it: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

Someone needs to be there to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.

Do photos help?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, especially with rough measurements. To send them, message us from the contact page.

Do you do the plumbing and electrics?

No, those are jobs for other trades. Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician, while we make and fit the cabinets.

From workshop to your room

Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Before fixing into a stud wall, we check for pipes and cables, with heavier pieces tied into the studs. Other trades handle any new sockets or plumbing, ideally before fitting day.

  1. To begin, use our contact form; a brief note on the room and the kitchen you have in mind is plenty.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the layout, the storage and where the appliances will sit.
  3. You receive a quote in writing for the kitchen cabinets.
  4. The cabinets are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the cabinets in your home, working around your plumber, your electrician and an engineer on the Gas Safe Register.

How to prepare

Advice

Could you do it yourself?

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.

It is worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture usually costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.
