Grahame Park Fitted Wardrobes
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on fitted wardrobes in Grahame Park starts with a design visit, and everything is built in our workshop.
- Several odd pieces where one run of storage would do
- An tricky slope in a loft bedroom
- Condensation behind a wardrobe on an outside wall
Fitted wardrobes for your home in Grahame Park
How we make fitted wardrobes for Grahame Park
Rail heights are set for the clothes they hold. Long coats and dresses need one tall section, while two rails, one over the other, suit shirts and jackets. We plan for the people using it too, keeping rails at a height they can reach. If your home has gaps above and around standalone wardrobes and a room too narrow for hinged doors, that’s what fitted wardrobes are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Stud walls in newer homes can carry pipes and cables, so the walls are checked before anything is fixed. Many homes around Grahame Park date from 2000 onwards, so this check is routine. Heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor.
After the design visit, we send you a written quote. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you are getting.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so tell us about it during the design visit.
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, after measuring the route at the design visit.
Fitted bedroom furniture in Grahame Park
About 54% of the homes in the streets around Grahame Park went up since 2000, and about 20% between 1973 and 1999, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. There are 8 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Grahame Park. Being near listed buildings does not make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. More than half of the homes in the neighbourhood around Grahame Park (about 54%) were built since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Newer homes often have compact bedrooms with plasterboard stud walls, so fitted pieces use the full height and are fixed into the studs.
If your home is one of the older houses near St Augustine Grahame Park, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. If your children go to St James' Catholic High School or a school nearby, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller.

FAQs: fitted wardrobes in Grahame Park
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Grahame Park?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Mill Hill Broadway station?
Yes, homes across Barnet and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details about the room.
Can wardrobes be fitted on an uneven floor?
It’s common, and it is allowed for. We level the wardrobe on a plinth or feet and scribe it to the walls so the doors close neatly.
How much will my fitted wardrobe cost?
Each room is quoted on its own: the size, what goes inside, the finish and how square the room is all count. You’ll get a quote in writing once we’ve measured up.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you before anything is painted.
Can you fit wardrobes in a top-floor flat?
We plan the sections around the route into your flat. Let us know about any concierge or lift booking rules.
How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
You are welcome to ask questions while we work. Most of the decisions were made at the measuring visit and set out in your quote, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully and leaving everything tidy. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Fitting day starts by covering floors and setting out the sections. Each piece is levelled and fixed to suit plasterboard or block. Hand-painted finishes can be completed once the furniture is in.
- To begin, send us a few details through our contact form; a brief note on the bedroom and what you need to store is enough.
- We visit to measure up and work out the inside with you, from rail heights to drawer depths.
- A quote in writing follows, listing the layout inside, the doors and the finish.
- The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for the rails, shelves and drawers you chose.
- The wardrobes are fitted in your home, spray-painted in the workshop or hand-painted on site, and the inside fittings go in last.
Preparing the room
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- Tell us about parking near your home
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
Arranging a design visit
Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and talk through the design with you, and the written quote comes after. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.
Advice
Where other trades come in
We’re carpenters, so some jobs belong to other trades. These are worth knowing before you plan:
- Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
- Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
- Redecorating around the wardrobes
If in doubt, you can use our contact form and describe the room. How it works.
Boards, parts and finishes
- Hand-painted finish
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Hinged or sliding doors
- Birch plywood
- Spray-painted finish
- Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
Flat-pack or bespoke?
If you’re handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That’s something we plan for in the design.
Why people ask for fitted wardrobes in Grahame Park
Couples often want storage that works for two. A fitted wardrobe can be planned with separate sections, each with the rails, shelves and drawers its owner needs.
Typical reasons people contact us include:
- A tight bedroom where doors get in the way
- Musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall
- Standard wardrobes that do not fill the wall
- Too little room for clothes
If you live in a flat close to Mill Hill Broadway station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.
