Bespoke Kitchens in Norwood New Town

Thinking about bespoke kitchens in Norwood New Town? We start with a design visit and a quote in writing.

  • A kitchen finished in your colours

From workshop to your room

Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are assembled, scribed to the walls and levelled. The fixings suit whatever the walls are made of. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

  1. First, you let us know about the room.
  2. We visit, measure and talk through the layout, larder, dresser or island.
  3. A written quote is sent to you, setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. The kitchen is built in our workshop.
  5. The cabinets are fitted in your home, with plumbing, gas and electrics by your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician.

Before we arrive

  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

How to get a quote

Bespoke kitchens in Norwood New Town: what you get

A dresser brings a traditional feel to a kitchen, and in a period house it can look as if it has always been there. Each dresser is made for its wall, scribed to follow it and painted to suit the room. People normally come to us about a painted kitchen in a colour you choose and a kitchen for a room that isn’t square, and the answer is made at our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Wherever your home in Norwood New Town sits in London’s mix of housing, the kitchen starts from the room’s own measurements. The worktop, sink and appliances you choose are built into the design. Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.

If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Before and after fitting day

Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after with a little care. These habits help most:

  • Tell us about parking at the design visit
  • Think about how the cabinets will get in
  • Make sure an island will not crowd the room
  • Make sure walls are dry before cabinets go in

If a hand-painted door gets a chip, it can be touched in. Spray-painted finishes are smooth and even, and clean easily with a soft cloth. It’s worth keeping a record of the colours used.

Talk to your plumber, electrician and an engineer on the Gas Safe Register early. Their work and ours need to fit together, and it’s easier when everyone works from the same design.

Questions we’re often asked

Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in Norwood New Town?

Yes, Norwood New Town is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Croydon and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, followed by a quote.

I live in a flat in Norwood New Town. How will the furniture get up the stairs?

At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.

Do you handle the gas and electrics for the kitchen?

No. We make and fit the kitchen cabinets. Plumbing is done by your plumber, gas by a Gas Safe engineer and electrics by your electrician, and we design around where their work goes.

Do I choose the paint colour?

The choice is yours. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture, which helps avoid condensation and mould. If there is damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, often to make the most of a small or awkward room. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.

Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the design visit, and we’ll plan the fitting around them.

How it is made

Plinths and scribe strips

We trim the edges to follow the wall for a close fit.

Larder and dresser units

They’re a good way to use an alcove or the end of a wall.

Made-to-measure kitchens or ready-made?

Larders, dressers and tall cupboards are hard to find in standard sizes that suit an older room. Bespoke joinery can be made for the exact space, painted to match the rest of the kitchen. Recesses, sloping ceilings and tricky corners are where ready-made furniture struggles most, and most homes have at least one. Fitted furniture is designed around them.

What goes inside matters as much as the outside: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside.
