Bespoke Kitchens in Croydon

Bespoke and fitted kitchens with cabinets made to the room, for homes in Croydon. We measure, design and quote first, then make it in our workshop and fit it.

  • A larder for food and small appliances
  • More storage in a small kitchen
  • A painted kitchen in a colour you choose

Need bespoke kitchens in Croydon?

Is bespoke worth it?

Choosing bespoke means a design visit, a quote, workshop time and fitting, rather than ordering from a range. In return, the storage, layout and finish are designed for you. In a compact new-build room, standard sizes rarely fit the walls exactly, while fitted furniture is made to the room. It can also be planned around boxed-in pipes and risers.

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. A larger piece means more material and more time. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

Bespoke kitchens in Croydon: what you get

Moisture-resistant MDF suits kitchens well, because it copes with a room that gets steamy. For drawer boxes and shelves, birch plywood is a good choice. Cabinets are spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in the colours you choose. People usually come to us about a kitchen planned around your appliances and open shelves with cupboards below, and the answer is built in our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Many homes around Croydon were built since 2000, and across London a lot of homes from those years are flats with compact kitchens. Cabinets made to the exact widths and height of the room add storage a standard kitchen leaves out. Boxed-in pipes and risers are built around.

The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Practical tips

People planning bespoke kitchens often ask about these. They help whatever the room:

  • Choose your appliances before the design is final
  • Talk to your other trades in good time
  • Have damp sorted before fitting
  • Allow space to walk round an island

If a hand-painted door gets a chip, it can be touched in. A spray finish gives a smooth, even surface that wipes clean. It’s worth keeping a record of the colours used.

Have any damp sorted before the kitchen goes in. Damp behind units can lead to mould, especially on a colder external wall.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke

Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it’s quick to buy.

It is worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture normally costs less up front. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.

What it costs

Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. The things that affect it are:

  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • Parking near your home
  • The internal fittings

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Helping us understand the room

Getting some details early makes the visit more useful. Where you can, include:

  • Any ideas or images you have saved
  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for

Getting a quote starts with some details: the room, rough measurements and some pictures if you have them. To send them, message us from the contact page. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.

Kitchens in Croydon homes

Homes built since 2000 make up about 36% of the housing in the streets around Croydon, with about 28% built before 1919, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. The centre of Croydon is within about a quarter of a mile of the Chatsworth Road Conservation Area. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If in doubt, the council’s planning team can confirm. Purpose-built flats are home to about 52% of households in the area around Croydon, going by Census 2021 figures from the ONS. For a flat, kitchens are made in sections sized for the stairs, the lift and the doors. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.

Near listed buildings like Old Palace Croydon: Great Hall, about 0.5 miles north-west of the centre of Croydon, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. Living in a block of flats near South Croydon station? Then the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. The wider area includes historic houses such as Addington Palace, about 2.5 miles east. For a period home anywhere nearby, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout.

Croydon is within the London Borough of Croydon, about 2 miles north of Thornton Heath. Wherever you are in Croydon, it works the same way: we visit and measure, send a written quote, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. Our work takes in places right across the rest of London.

We make bespoke kitchens across the CR0, CR2, CR9 and CR8 postcode area for bespoke kitchens. Our area takes in homes on streets such as High Street, Church Road and Ruskin Square, along with the roads around them, for bespoke kitchens and any of our other fitted furniture. Nearby, we also make bespoke kitchens in South Croydon (1 mile south), Coombe (1 mile east), Addiscombe (2 miles north-east), Ashburton (2 miles north-east) and Woodside (2 miles north-east). Across the rest of the rest of London, our area takes in Thornton Heath (2 miles north), Coulsdon (4 miles south-west), Purley (2 miles south-west), Upper Norwood (4 miles north), Selhurst (2 miles north) and South Norwood (2 miles north).

Common questions about bespoke kitchens

Do you cover homes near South Croydon station?

Yes, homes across London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with a few details about the room.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Croydon?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.

Which worktops and appliances can I have?

The worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose, and we design the cabinets around them. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.

Should I send photos?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot. You can send them when you get in touch through our contact form.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

It needs a little planning: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. Damp treatment is not something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.

Does my lease affect fitted furniture?

Possibly. It depends on your lease, and some require the building owner’s consent for alterations. Your lease is something we can’t advise on.

From workshop to your room

In older rooms, the furniture normally has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it looks as though it was always there. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Walls in newer homes are often plasterboard on studs, so on fitting day heavy pieces go into the studs or stand on the floor. Floors are covered while we work.

  1. First, you tell us about the kitchen you have and the one you want. It is useful to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
  2. We come to measure up and plan the layout with you.
  3. A quote in writing follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish, for you to read through.
  4. We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics. We don’t arrange those trades, so it helps to book them early.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
