How we make bespoke kitchens for Pinner Green
We often use moisture-resistant MDF in kitchens, because it copes with a room that gets steamy. For drawer boxes and shelves, birch plywood is a good choice. The finish is spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in colours agreed with you. If your home has a pantry cupboard with shelves and drawers and a layout for a small or awkward room, kitchens made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.
Knocked-through kitchen-diners in older semis sometimes keep a chimney breast, and the recesses beside it can take a dresser or larder. If yours is one of the interwar houses or semis that make up much of the housing around Pinner Green, the design can make the most of it. Any capped chimney stays ventilated.
The furniture is built in our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Pinner Green
Do you cover homes near Hatch End station?
Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Pinner Green?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It is useful to let us know about parking at the measuring visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Do photos help?
Yes, they help. Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space, especially with rough sizes. To send them, tell us about the room on our contact form.
What happens when you come to measure?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a written quote.
How do you get large furniture into a flat?
The furniture is built in sections, sized for the route as well as the room. That is why we measure the stairs, lift and doorways at the design visit.
Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?
Usually not. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission, even in a conservation area. If the building is listed, works affecting its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
Made-to-measure kitchens or ready-made?
Many off-the-shelf kitchens use chipboard carcasses with a printed or wrapped finish. Ours are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then spray or hand painted, so the finish can be repainted later. Bays, box rooms and stair bulkheads are where off-the-shelf furniture struggles most, and interwar homes often have all three. Fitted furniture is made around them.
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
Why us?
- Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- Workshop-made and fitted by us

What affects the price in Pinner Green
What you pay depends on:
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- The overall size of the piece
- How many doors and drawers there are
The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
Getting in touch
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. It is useful to include:
- Approximate measurements of the space
- Examples of the look you are after
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
It helps to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space. To send them over, drop us a line using the contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.
Materials and finishes
Spray-painted finish
With a spray finish, the painting is done in the workshop, which keeps work in your home to fitting.
Birch plywood
Open shelves in a kitchen need to stay straight, and birch plywood helps.
What bespoke kitchens cannot fix
Some parts of a job need another trade, from an electrician to a plumber or an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Here’s what to know:
- Any work on the gas supply
- Plastering, tiling or decorating
- Electrics, sockets and lighting (your electrician)
Not sure whether your space suits bespoke kitchens? You can send us a few details through our contact form and we’ll tell you. How a job runs, step by step.

How fitting day works
With the carcasses fixed and level, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In a 1930s house with a converted loft, the stairs to the loft room are often steeper than the main flight, so any section going up there is sized for them. Elsewhere in the house, the route is normally more generous. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.
- We start with how you cook and what the kitchen needs to hold.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the layout. We note where the water, gas and sockets are now.
- A quote follows, covering the design and finish.
- We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the cabinets in your home; plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician. We don’t arrange these trades ourselves.
Before fitting day
- Empty the space we will be working in
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
