Bespoke kitchens designed for your room
Made-to-measure kitchens or ready-made?
A bespoke kitchen takes more planning than picking units from a range. What you get is a kitchen planned around how you cook and live. If a house has been extended or knocked through, the new walls and the old ones may not line up, which shows up against standard furniture. Fitted pieces are scribed to both.
Access to the room makes a difference too. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying, which the quote allows for. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit.

How we make bespoke kitchens for South Chingford
A bespoke kitchen is built around the room you have. Every unit is sized from careful measurements taken at the design visit, so the runs fit neatly from wall to wall. The layout, storage and finish are planned with you, and the kitchen is made in our workshop before it’s fitted. Most enquiries start with a central island in a larger kitchen and room for everything in the kitchen; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around South Chingford, many kitchens have a garden door and a window that shape the layout. Cabinets, a larder and a dresser can be made to suit the layout. The worktop, sink and appliances you choose are built in.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Bespoke kitchens in South Chingford: local notes
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 61% of the housing in the streets around South Chingford, with about 12% built since 2000, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Near the centre of South Chingford, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Edmund (Grade II), about 0.6 miles north-east. For a listed home, changes inside that alter its character may need listed building consent from the council, for example removing or fixing into original panelling. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Terraced houses are home to about 42% of households in the streets around South Chingford, based on Census 2021. Kitchens in London terraces are often narrow, sometimes in a back addition, which suits cabinets made to the exact width.
If your home is one of the older houses near St Edmund's Church, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. If your children go to Chingford Hall Primary Academy or a school nearby, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off. Living in a block of flats near Meridian Water station? Then the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.

What affects the price in South Chingford
When we put a quote together, we consider:
- How many doors and drawers there are
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- The width and height of the space
Tricky rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it.
Helping us understand the room
You don’t need exact measurements or a plan. Just send what you can:
- Your postcode and the borough
- Approximate measurements of the space
- Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit. For a quote, get in touch through our contact form.
Questions from South Chingford
Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in South Chingford?
Yes, South Chingford is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Waltham Forest and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, and then we send a quote.
Is parking a problem for fitting in South Chingford?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Normally not. Fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission, even in a conservation area. Listed buildings can need listed building consent for works that affect their character.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.
Which worktops and appliances can I have?
You choose the worktop, sink and appliances, and the cabinets are made to suit them. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
Is there room for an island in my kitchen?
If there is enough room, yes. An island needs clear floor around it to open doors and move about, and we check this at the design visit. If the room is narrow, we’ll suggest other layouts.
How fitting day works
The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there’s usually only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that is what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. If you have a driveway, it can make unloading simpler, so let us know during the design visit. Otherwise, a visitor permit or a nearby bay helps. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.
- You get in touch and describe the kitchen you want.
- We visit to measure and talk through the layout and the finish, spray-painted or hand-painted.
- A quote in writing follows, with the finish agreed.
- The cabinets are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, and a spray finish is applied there for a smooth, even surface.
- The kitchen is fitted and scribed to the walls, with any hand painting done in the room.
- Treat new paint gently while it cures; the plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your own plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.
Before fitting day
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician in advance
- Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
Starting with a design visit
It helps to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, along with rough sizes. To send them over, tell us about the room on our contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.
Advice
Flats, leases and landlords
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, after measuring the route at the measuring visit.
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We cannot advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well.
The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
