Angell Town homes and fitted cupboards
In the streets around Angell Town, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 38%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 19%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. The National Heritage List has 122 entries within half a mile of the centre of Angell Town. Original fireplaces, shutters and panelling are worth keeping where they survive, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. The ULEZ, run by TfL, takes in all of London, so Lambeth is inside it. It applies to every van that comes to fit furniture in Angell Town. Parking and access are planned during the design visit.
If you live in a flat close to Loughborough Junction station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. For a family home near St John's Angell Town Church of England Primary School, fitted cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home.

Fitted cupboards for homes in Angell Town
Hallways in London homes are often long and narrow, so a cupboard has to earn its place. We can make a shallow cupboard for coats, shoes and bags that still leaves room to pass, fitted out with a rail, hooks or shelves. A bench with a lift-up lid or drawers under it is another option for putting shoes on by the door. Typical reasons to get in touch are cupboards that sit well with skirting and coving and cupboards for a utility or boot room; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Most homes around Angell Town are purpose-built flats, from mansion blocks to newer blocks. Older mansion block flats can have bays, long corridors and tall ceilings with space to use, while newer flats tend to have compact halls and boxed-in services. In a maisonette, the space under the internal stairs is worth using.
If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we’ll tell you. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

What else we make in Angell Town
How fitting day works
There is not much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and the room should already be cleared. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the cupboards and the room, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Where there’s no lift, each section is sized to be carried up the stairs safely. The stair turns and landings set the limit. The pieces are assembled in the flat.
- You get in touch and tell us where the cupboards should go.
- We visit, take careful measurements and go through the design with you. For a boiler cupboard, we plan for the clearances and ventilation in the manufacturer’s instructions.
- You get a quote in writing for the cupboards we’ve agreed, for you to read through.
- The cupboards are built in our workshop.
- The cupboards are fitted in your home and trimmed to follow the walls. We check each door and shelf with you before we leave.
Before we arrive
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Empty the space we’ll be working in
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
Starting with a design visit
The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and talk through the design with you. A quote in writing follows the visit, so you can take your time with it. To book one, get in touch through our contact form.

Questions from Angell Town
Does a conservation area in or near Angell Town affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can need listed building consent from the council. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.
Can you make fitted cupboards for a home in Angell Town?
Yes, we work across Lambeth, Angell Town included, and across the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Will a fitted cupboard work on a sloping floor?
Yes. We scribe each cupboard to follow the wall and set it level on adjustable feet or a plinth. It’s one of the reasons fitted joinery suits period homes.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
We plan the route in at the measuring visit. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doors, and the furniture is made in sections sized to get through.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Just mention it when you contact us, and we will see what we can do.
What do fitted cupboards cost?
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Each cupboard is different, so we quote once we have seen the space. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Is it time for fitted cupboards?
Off-the-shelf cupboards rarely suit older houses. Sloping floors, walls that lean and odd alcove widths leave gaps and wasted space above. A fitted cupboard is made to the room’s real shape.
These come up often when people first get in touch:
- Tall cupboards where space is short
- Making use of an awkward alcove or corner
- Storage for towels and bedding
- Boxing in a boiler with room for servicing
Close to Max Roach Park? Fitted cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.

Why bespoke in Angell Town?
If you are likely to move soon and want to take the furniture with you, standalone cupboards may suit you better. Fitted storage is built in for good and is designed for this home. How long you’ll stay is worth weighing up. Flats tend to have walls interrupted by doors, radiators and sockets, so off-the-shelf widths rarely fill the gaps. Fitted furniture is made for the spaces that are left.
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.
Why us?
- Saturdays by prior arrangement
- A design visit, then a quote in writing
- Made in moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood

Materials and finishes
Birch plywood
Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which matters for long shelves and drawer boxes. You can leave the layered edge on show or paint it.
Shelves
Shelves are spaced to suit what goes on them, from towels and bedding to tins and boxes. Wide shelves are made stiff enough not to sag.
When you need someone else
We don’t treat damp or carry out building work, and there are a few other limits too:
- Moving gas or electricity meters
- Connecting appliances to water or waste
- Work on a boiler, which is for a Gas Safe engineer
