In Brentham Garden Suburb, we design fitted wardrobes around the room you actually have. Your fitted wardrobe is designed at a visit to your home and made in our workshop.
- Damp or musty clothes against an external wall
- Too little room for clothes

About our fitted wardrobes in Brentham Garden Suburb
Wardrobes can be built around a bed, with cupboards each side and a run of storage above the headboard. Others work around a window. We plan the layout so the room still feels open. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are condensation behind a wardrobe on an outside wall and mismatched bedroom furniture.
A good part of the housing around Brentham Garden Suburb is interwar, semi-detached or detached. If yours is a 1920s or 1930s house, the box room over the stairs is a classic spot for fitted furniture. Main bedrooms from that era are often a good size, with a bay window at the front.
If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we’ll tell you. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
You won’t need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. The time the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Loft stairs in an interwar house can be tight, with a low ceiling at the top, so any section going up there is sized for them. Elsewhere in the house, the route is usually more generous. The pieces are joined and fixed once in place.
- To begin, message us from the contact page; a brief note on the bedroom and what you need to store is enough.
- At the design visit we measure the room and plan the inside: long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers.
- A written quote follows, listing the layout inside, the doors and the finish.
- The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for the rails, shelves and drawers you chose.
- The wardrobes are fitted in your home, spray-painted in the workshop or hand-painted on site, and the inside fittings go in last.
Before we arrive
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

Advice
Do you need fitted wardrobes in Brentham Garden Suburb?
An awkward room is another reason. A sloping ceiling, a chimney breast, a low window or a door in the wrong place can defeat standard furniture. We shape fitted wardrobes around those features.
If any of these sound familiar, it is worth getting in touch:
- Musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall
- Empty alcoves in the bedroom
- A room too narrow for hinged doors
- A sloping ceiling that is hard to use
Living in a block of flats near Ealing Broadway station? Then check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Which parts of the job need an electrician or a plumber
- Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?
- Can you see real work of theirs?
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
Flat-pack or bespoke?
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.
Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, which leaves standard units with gaps at the sides and top.
Questions we’re often asked
Is parking a problem for fitting in Brentham Garden Suburb?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Will a conservation area stop me having fitted wardrobes fitted in Brentham Garden Suburb?
Typically not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Will you travel outside London?
No. We cover London only: all 32 boroughs and the City of London.
Is it possible to have storage over the bed?
Yes. Building around the bed uses a wall that often goes unused, with wardrobes at the sides and cupboards overhead. We measure the bed and the room at the design visit.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room.
Will you paint the walls around the furniture?
No. We do not plaster or decorate. The furniture is finished by spray or by hand, as agreed in your quote.
Where other trades come in
We’re carpenters, so some jobs belong to other trades. It’s useful to know these before you plan the job:
- Curing damp, which needs the right specialist
- The loft conversion itself, which is building work under Building Regulations
- Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
