About our fitted wardrobes in Church End
Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and from wall to wall where that suits the room. There is no dusty gap on top and no awkward space at the ends. For a bedroom in Church End, the first step is a design visit to measure up and discuss the design. We make fitted wardrobes from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and people most often get in touch about several odd pieces where one run of storage would do and gaps above and around standalone wardrobes.
Sash windows are common in Victorian and Edwardian houses, and their position, along with any shutters, affects where furniture can go. If your home is one of the many around Church End built before 1919, we plan the layout so the window opens fully and the light still comes in. Doors are chosen and hung so they clear the bed, the radiator and the door to the room.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. The finish is stated too, whether that is spray painting or hand painting.

Pricing fitted wardrobes in Church End
Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. The things that affect it are:
- The internal fittings
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We will talk through what you need inside at the measuring visit, and the quote follows.
What to send when you get in touch
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Your postcode and the borough
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, get in touch through our contact form.
Flats, blocks and rented homes
We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, as it makes good use of an awkward room. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the measuring visit.

Boards, parts and paint
Spray-painted finish
Spray painting is done in the workshop, which gives large doors a smooth, even surface. It works on plain and panelled doors alike.
Plinths and scribe strips
Scribing means trimming edges on site to follow the walls and ceiling. It is how a straight carcass meets a wall that isn’t straight.
Your questions about fitted wardrobes in Church End
My house in Church End is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?
Yes. Walls in older houses are rarely flat or square, and floors are often out of level, so each piece is scribed to follow the wall and set level on a plinth or adjustable feet. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.
Does a conservation area in or near Church End affect fitted furniture?
Typically not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can need listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Do you work on Saturdays?
Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
What materials do you use?
Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. MDF gives a smooth, stable surface for paint; birch plywood is strong and good for shelves and drawer boxes, and the quote says which is used where.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. Your quote sets out which you have chosen.
Can fitted wardrobes follow a sloping ceiling?
Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, with long hanging where there is height and shelves or drawers where it is lower. It makes good use of space that’s hard to furnish.
Church End homes and fitted wardrobes
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Church End were built before 1919 (about 46%) and since 2000 (about 27%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Church End is partly covered by a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are mainly about the outside of buildings. If you’re unsure, check with the council before work starts. Around Church End, about 46% of homes date from before 1919, well above the figure for Brent as a whole, about 28%, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). So older-house details are more likely to come into the design of fitted wardrobes.
Close to Roundwood Park? Fitted wardrobes are normally planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. If your children go to St Mary's CofE Primary School or a school nearby, fitted wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow. For a flat near Harlesden station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room.

What happens on fitting day
With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
- It starts when you tell us about the room, the floor it’s on and the wardrobes you want.
- At the design visit we plan the wardrobes with you and check the route in, including any lift or tight stair turn. Tell us about parking as well, as a van normally needs a permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension in much of London.
- You receive a written quote for the wardrobes.
- In our workshop the wardrobes are built in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, so each piece fits through the doors and round the landings.
- Fitting day: the sections come in, are joined and set level, and the doors are hung.
Before fitting day
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
How to get a quote
Getting a quote starts with a few details: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you’re ready, message us from the contact page. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a quote in writing.
