Fitted wardrobes designed for your room
How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Where a period house has been split into flats, the way in often goes through shared parts, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room.
- At the design visit we measure the room and agree the layout and doors.
- Your written quote follows, setting out the design, materials and finish.
- We build the wardrobes in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit them in your home, scribed to the walls and ceiling; a hand-painted finish is done on site.
- Before we leave, we go through the doors and drawers with you. New paint takes time to cure, so treat it gently at first.
Before we arrive
- Empty the space we’ll be working in
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
How to get a quote
Rough measurements are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, use our contact form with a few details about the room. The written quote follows the visit.

Fitted wardrobes in Kilburn: what you get
The inside matters as much as the doors. Long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers are arranged around what you own, so nothing is squashed and no height is wasted. It is worth noting the clothes you reach for most before the design visit. We make fitted wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and people most often get in touch about dusty space on top of the wardrobe and clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms.
Sash windows are common in Victorian and Edwardian houses, and their position, along with any shutters, affects where furniture can go. If your home is one of the many around Kilburn built before 1919, we plan the layout so the window opens fully and the light still comes in. Doors on fitted pieces are hung to clear the bed and any radiator.
Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

What else we make in Kilburn
How it is made
Hanging rails
Long rails need support so they don’t bend under heavy coats to carry a full load. We plan the rail lengths with that in mind.
Birch plywood
Shelves inside a wardrobe carry folded clothes, shoes and boxes. Birch plywood helps keep them straight across wider sections.
Kilburn homes and fitted wardrobes
About 59% of the homes in the area around Kilburn went up before 1919, and about 14% between 1973 and 1999, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Part of Kilburn is in a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Your council can advise if you’re unsure. Controlled parking zones are common across London, and Brent sets its own rules. If your road in Kilburn falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what the parking is like during the design visit.
If you live near Queen’s Park, keeping fitted wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright. If you live in a period home close to St Anne's and St Andrew's, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design.

Is it time for fitted wardrobes?
For some, it is about a calmer room. A run of painted doors from wall to wall looks quieter than several separate pieces.
Typical reasons people contact us include:
- Bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes
- Gaps above and around standalone wardrobes
- Mismatched bedroom furniture
- Storage boxes stacked under the bed
For a family home near Salusbury Primary School, the inside of fitted wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow.
What to check before you book
- Which parts of the job need an electrician or a plumber
- How they handle walls that are not straight
- Real projects you can actually look at
- How parking will work on your street
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Older homes rarely have straight walls or level floors. Standalone wardrobes may lean or leave uneven gaps against the wall. Ours are levelled on a plinth or adjustable feet and scribed to the walls. Ready-made pieces are proportioned for newer homes and can look lost in an older one, whereas fitted pieces can pick up the room’s height and mouldings.
How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Your questions about fitted wardrobes in Kilburn
I live near Queens Park (London) station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Brent and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.
Can you fit fitted wardrobes to the uneven walls of an older house in Kilburn?
Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.
Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?
Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, with long hanging where there is height and shelves or drawers where it’s lower. It turns tricky space into storage.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.
How is the inside of the wardrobe planned?
You choose the mix of hanging, shelves and drawers. It can include long and double hanging, shelves, drawers and space for shoes. We talk it through at the design visit.
How do I get started?
The first step is to use our contact form. We then arrange a design visit, measure up and send a quote in writing.
What fitted wardrobes cannot fix
We design, make and fit the furniture. In practice, that means:
- Painting walls and ceilings, or repairing plaster
- Building work to create a loft room
- Treating damp or mould on the walls
Not sure whether your space suits fitted wardrobes? You can message us from the contact page and we’ll tell you before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.
