About our fitted wardrobes in Kenton
What goes inside is where a fitted wardrobe earns its place. Long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers are arranged around what you own. It’s useful to think about what you wear most before we meet. Typical reasons to get in touch are a sloping ceiling that’s hard to use and gaps above and around standalone wardrobes, and the answer is made at our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Bedrooms in interwar houses often have a picture rail but a plainer ceiling than a Victorian room, so fitted furniture can often run neatly to the ceiling. If yours is one of the interwar houses or semis that make up much of the housing around Kenton, high cupboards make a good home for suitcases and spare bedding. Skirting boards are cut around neatly.
Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Caring for painted furniture
The finish lasts best with a little care. Here are our suggestions:
- Check the route into your flat, not just the room
- Ask your electrician about moving sockets early
- Count how much long hanging and short hanging you need
- Check how much space there is in front for doors to open
Hang clothes evenly along each rail instead of crowding one section. Very heavy coats sit best on a shorter rail.
Do not dry washing inside a wardrobe or in the bedroom with the doors shut, as the extra moisture can lead to condensation. Opening a window now and then helps.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Modular interior systems can be rearranged easily, and that flexibility is useful. A bespoke interior is planned around what you own, and we can include adjustable shelves where you want flexibility. If a house has been extended or knocked through, the new walls and the old ones may not line up, and straight-sided ready-made units make that obvious. Built-in pieces are scribed to take up the difference.
The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

What happens on fitting day
Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You contact us with a few details about the room and the wardrobes you’d like, with a rough idea of what you need to hang and fold.
- We visit to measure up and plan the doors, rails, shelves and drawers with you.
- We send a quote in writing with the layout, materials and finish, ready for you to read through.
- We build the wardrobes in our workshop, in sections sized to get into your home. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit them in your home, scribe them to the walls and hang the doors. The rails, shelves and drawers go in last.
Preparing the room
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Empty the space we will be working in

Your questions about fitted wardrobes in Kenton
Can you make fitted wardrobes for a home in Kenton?
Yes, we work across Brent, Kenton included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with a few details.
Will a conservation area stop me having fitted wardrobes fitted in Kenton?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.
Can you fit wardrobes in a top-floor flat?
Each wardrobe is built in sections that suit the stairs, landings and lift, and the wardrobe is put together in the room. Let us know about any concierge or lift booking rules.
Should I choose hinged or sliding wardrobe doors?
The space in front of the wardrobe typically decides it. Where a bed sits close by, sliding doors often work better, while hinged doors suit rooms with space to open them. We look at it with you when we measure.
Can I choose the layout inside the wardrobe?
It’s worked out with you when we measure, based on what you wear and how much of it there is. Some shelves can be adjustable so the layout can change.
What happens when you come to measure?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We will also ask about access and parking, and a written quote follows.
Bedrooms in Kenton: local notes
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 84% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Kenton, with about 7% built between 1945 and 1972, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Kenton is partly covered by a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Being in a conservation area mainly affects changes to the outside of a building, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If you are unsure, check with the council before work starts. TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules. If your street in Kenton joins a main road, it’s worth telling us during the design visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.
For an older house near Church of St Mary, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. Headstone Manor, about 2.2 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go. For families living near St Gregory's Catholic Science College, fitted wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow.
Kenton is part of the London Borough of Brent, about 6 miles south-east of Kilburn. Anywhere in Kenton, the process is the same: we visit and measure, send a quote in writing, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. Kenton is one of 29 places on our list for Brent.
In HA3, HA7 and HA1, the process is the same as anywhere else in London. We cover homes on streets like Retreat Close, Kenton Road and Woodgrange Avenue, whether you want fitted wardrobes or another piece made for the room. Kenton sits close to the A4006, and we plan where the van can stop before fitting day. Close by, we also work in South Kenton (1 mile south), Northwick Park (1 mile south-west), Greenhill (1 mile west), Wealdstone (1 mile north-west) and Harrow on the Hill (2 miles south-west). We also make fitted wardrobes in nearby places like Kilburn (6 miles south-east), Neasden (3 miles south-east), Harlesden (4 miles south-east), Wembley (2 miles south), Queen's Park (6 miles south-east) and Church End (4 miles south-east).
Around Kenton
Our area takes in the homes around Uxendon Manor Primary School and The New Moon pub. The nearest railway station is Kenton station, about 0.5 miles south-west of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find St. Mark's Hospital (0.9 miles south-west) and St. Anns (1.3 miles west). Not far away are Masons Field.
What it is made from
Spray-painted finish
A spray-painted finish is applied in our workshop, which gives large doors a smooth, even surface. It suits a crisp, modern look as well as a classic panelled door.
Hanging rails
Long rails need support so they do not bend under heavy coats to carry a full load. Rail lengths are planned so they stay straight.
What affects the cost of fitted wardrobes
What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. That depends on:
- The number of doors and drawers
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- Parking and unloading on your street
There’s no price list, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, go through the design and then quote in writing, naming the materials and finish. To start, message us from the contact page.
What to send when you get in touch
There is no need for exact sizes or plans. Just send what you can:
- Examples of the look you’re after
- Rough sizes: width, height and depth
- How you want to use the space
- The type of home and how the room is reached
Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough measurements and some photos if you have them. To send them, use our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a quote in writing.
