Walk-in wardrobes designed for your room
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Standard systems come in set widths and heights and rarely reach the ceiling. A bespoke design can run to the ceiling and fill the walls, which can add a lot of storage. Standard furniture is drawn for modern rooms, so its proportions can look odd in a tall period room, whereas fitted pieces can pick up the room’s height and mouldings, with panels and details to suit the house.
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

How we make walk-in wardrobes for Church End
A walk-in wardrobe can also be part of a bedroom. A corner or one end of a large bedroom can become a dressing area, either open to the room or behind doors. Any new partition wall is for your builder, while we make and fit the furniture. Most enquiries start with turning a box room into a dressing room and long and double hanging planned around your clothes, and the answer is built in our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Victorian and Edwardian bedrooms typically have a chimney breast on one wall and a recess either side. A large share of the homes around Church End date from before 1919, so many bedrooms there may share that layout. Fitted furniture can fill both recesses and bridge the chimney breast with high cupboards, leaving the breast itself clear. Any capped chimney is kept ventilated.
After the design visit, we send you a written quote. It sets out the design we’ve talked through, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you are getting.

Common questions about walk-in wardrobes
I live near Harlesden station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Brent and the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
My home in Church End is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Walk-in wardrobes are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
What if my walls and floors are out of level?
It is something we deal with all the time. The furniture is scribed to follow the walls and levelled on feet or a plinth, so it sits tight to the room.
Does fitted furniture need planning permission?
Typically not. Inside a house, fitted furniture does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings can require listed building consent for works that affect their character, so check with the council first.
Is it better to have doors or open storage?
That depends on how you like to use the space. We can fit doors, open storage or both, and we go through the options when we measure.
Can you build a dressing area in my bedroom?
Yes, if there’s enough space. One end or a corner can be set aside with a run of units, open or behind doors. Any new partition is for your builder, and we fit the furniture.
The problems walk-in wardrobes solve
Most people come to us because their clothes have outgrown their wardrobes. Rails are crammed, shelves overflow and shoes end up under the bed. A dressing room spreads it all out so you can see it.
We’re often asked to help with:
- A built-in dressing table
- Somewhere for shoes to live
- Separate space for two people’s clothes
- Room for a growing wardrobe
For families living near St Mary's CofE Primary School, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.
What to check before you book
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
- Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Real projects you can actually look at
How fitting day works
If anything comes up on the day, just ask. Most of the decisions were made during the design visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving everything tidy. The time the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In a period home, the furniture is fitted to walls that aren’t straight, so there is some trimming and adjusting on site. We protect the floors and keep dust to a minimum. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit, as terraced streets are often busy.
- You tell us about the room and what you want to store.
- We visit to measure up and go through the layout, including any dressing table.
- We send a quote in writing with the design, materials and finish, ready for you to check.
- The units are made and finished in our workshop.
- Fitting day: the units are fitted and trimmed to the room.
How to prepare
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know

Walk-in wardrobes in Church End: local notes
About 46% of the homes in the area around Church End went up before 1919, and about 27% since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how walk-in wardrobes are fixed and fitted. Within a mile of the centre of Church End, 4 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. If your street in Church End joins a main road, it’s worth telling us during the design visit. We will plan where the van can stop.
Near listed buildings like Church of St Mary, less than half a mile north of the centre of Church End, older homes may keep original joinery that walk-in wardrobes can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. If you live in a flat close to Harlesden station, walk-in wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
It is worth being honest about cost: flat-pack is typically cheaper to buy. Bespoke earns its place where the room is tricky, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot usually do that in an older room.
